Has ‘Young Wallander’ been renewed for season 2?
‘Young Wallander’, a crime-drama series exclusively on Netflix, is based on Henning Mankell’s beloved fictional inspector Kurt Wallander. The show is set in modern-day contemporary Sweden and covers the story of Kurt Wallander’s career.
It, generally, takes time for a show to be renewed on Netflix. After a few cancellations, we were in doubt over ‘Young Wallander’s’ possibility of renewal.
To fans’ pleasure, “Deadline” reported that the series would be returning for season 2.
But very little information was given beyond that fact that season 2 is set to arrive on Netflix in 2021.
What to expect from season 2
The Netflix series could easily expand beyond a second season because the novels have enough content that wasn’t covered in season 1.
Kurt Wallander’s career was off to an extremely shaky start. He witnessed two murders, one of a teenager in Malmö and another, that of his colleague Hemberg. Last time when we saw him on season 1, Kurt was horrified and scarred in his short time on the force. He decided to quit his job.
At the end of season 1, Kurt appeared to be content with leaving the police. He seemed rather happy to be dating Mona.
Kurt can be expected to return to the police eventually. What would drive him back is yet to be revealed.
When will season 2 hit our screens?
No precise release date has been announced so far. It has only been announced that the second season will arrive in 2021.
Most probably, they could release season 2 of the series in the middle or end of 2021. The series is yet to begin production.
