So naturally, the question is how many more seasons will ‘Young Sheldon’ survive with the same cast? Or does the show creator Steve Molaro have some other plan?
Sheldon – Now and Then
The creator Steve Molaro is quite aware of the difference in attitude between older and younger Sheldon. As we have already established that Sheldon was the youngest high school graduate at the mere age of 11, owing to his 4 years of distinction, naturally he would be the youngest in college too.
Later, in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, the Sheldon we see is a lot mellowed down from what we see in ‘Young Sheldon’.
According to Molaro, his idea was that the character has evolved over the years. Sheldon is more agreeable and less annoying when he was younger and maybe not fully aware of the depth of his genius self. He wanted younger Sheldon to be naive like how a young child should be, despite his extraordinary brain.
‘Young Sheldon’ is safe as of now. But for how long?
The world is witnessing one of the worst years in centuries. With the COVID pandemic, multiple cases of blasts around the world, and the economy smashed completely, it’s not just a health disaster anymore.

Every single industry has been affected this year. Hollywood show business is one of them. Several studios like CBS, AMC, Fox, NBC, ABC, etc. have shelved many shows to accommodate the most demanding shows. Many fan-favourites like ‘The Crown’, ‘Lucifer‘, ‘Better Call Saul’, and ‘Avenue 5’ have been renewed.
However, during this chaotic time, a report surfaced claiming that ‘Young Sheldon’ is likely to get cancelled by CBS, which didn’t make sense, considering its prequel ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was one of the most trending shows in the American TV industry.
Later, CBS took down this rumour by confirming the return of ‘Young Sheldon’ with season 4 via a tweet, “There’s more #YoungSheldon where that came from — the Cooper family is returning for a fourth season!”
There might be more of Penny in ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 4
‘Penny’ saved the day, literally. In season 3, we saw Sheldon having a nightmare. Later, we saw him talking to the pool water. That’s when fans hear a voice from the pool luring Sheldon in. Speculation followed immediately after that the voice vaguely sounded like Kaley Cuoco aka our very own Penny.
Later, show maker Steve Molaro confirmed it. He said,
“That was definitely the voice of Kaley as pool water. I told her, ‘Hey, I have a weird pitch for you. In a scene, Sheldon has this nightmare, and he needs to go to a pool and speak to the pool water. Do you want to voice the pool water?’ She just laughed and said, ‘Absolutely, I do’”.
Now, words around the street are that is just the tip of the iceberg. Kaley is going to have a more important role to play in season 4. Yes! For the first time ever, Kaley Cuoco is set to physically appear in ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 4.
Now that CBS has confirmed season 4 and Sheldon is waiting to be graduated, do you think there’ll be more? Should the show follow Sheldon to his Alma Matar Caltech in season 5? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.
