The production of Young Sheldon Season 3 finale had to shut down, on its second day of shooting due to the pandemic, earlier in March. But Sheldon’s graduation is too important for the storyline, and fans wouldn’t want to miss Sheldon being named valedictorian. Hence, Young Sheldon season 4 shall resume from where season 3 ended.
Sheldon isn’t certain if pursuing college is the best idea and if he’s ready for this big of a change, at the age of 11. In the promo, Missy talks Sheldon into believing that it’s time to face his fears. Sheldon’s parents George Sr. and Mary are interviewed by a local news channel after he’s named valedictorian of Medford High at the age of 11.

The show creators had planned season 3 finale with a lovely ending for episode 22 but due to the unprecedented situation, the production had to be wrapped after the 21st episode. The season ends with George and Shelly trying to convince Mary to let Sheldon enrol full-time with Dr Sturgis while Connie and Georgie egg Dale’s store after he fires Georgie.
What does Mary and George’s dissension mean for Sheldon’s future?
It’s an emotional moment for fans and the Coopers as Sheldon stands on the threshold of a new life. Season 3 concludes amidst a series of rifts between his parents over whether Sheldon should start college this early.
Torn between her son and his future, Mary hides an offer letter from Caltech (which is where Sheldon will land up, according to ‘The Big Bang Theory’).
She doesn’t discuss it with George which later erupts into an argument since they have opposing views about Sheldon’s future. George believes that it’s a great opportunity for Sheldon and he should definitely take the offer. He even prepares a video presentation to assert why Sheldon should go to college.
Its ironic yet heartening to see Sheldon and his father being on the same page, and Sheldon trying something sporty for once in his life. Fans are hopeful that season 4 shall explore the father-son relationship in a new light.
What does the crossover between ‘Young Sheldon’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ mean?
Executive producer Steven Molaro, in an interview with “tvline.com”, revealed that before the 11-year-old prodigy starts his freshman year at East Texas Tech, he lays his hands on a summer job at a train museum to pursue some age-appropriate activities.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ fans remember that Sheldon had joined college at the age of 11. But the writers never revealed which college he attended after school until he joins Caltech when he turns 14.
Now that Sheldon doesn’t have to leave his parents at such a young age, him joining East Texas Tech for undergraduate studies makes total sense.
“He’s a little kid. He needs to have his parents around, or at least have access to some sort of family or someone taking care of him, so that worked out”, Molaro told “TVLine”.
Sheldon, in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, talked about how he caught his father cheating on his mother when he was young. Fans will be expecting a downfall of George and Mary’s marriage and will also get to see whether their opposing views about Shelly’s future marks the dissolution of their married life.
Season 4 tracks Sheldon’s life as a freshman in East Texas Tech and if Mary and George’s marriage turns out how Sheldon described it in TBBT. CBS, in an official announcement, stated that season 4 will air on November 5 at 8 pm with episodes airing weekly on E4 for fans in Britain. Jim Parsons will be providing narration for another season while the main cast will reprise their roles in season 4 which kicks off next week.
