The end of a decade and the beginning of history
The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon both revolve around the main protagonist Sheldon, along with his family and friends, at different times in their lives. The creators of the show, Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro brought onto screens a personality that is unforgettable and irreplaceable.
The Big Bang Theory ended its 10-year-old series in a bittersweet note with Sheldon honoring his friends in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech. Consequently, Young Sheldon took off with a great start with over 17 million viewers for its pilot.
While fans have enjoyed watching both actors Iain Armitage and Jim Parsons play their respective roles, questions are being raised about their off-screen relationship.
Do both Sheldons like each other off-screen?
In an interview with CBS, This Morning Iain and Jim expressed their friendship as a bond that was meant to be. As Jim talks about the hows and whats behind Young Sheldon, he mentions that the role of was almost given to his 10-year-old nephew. “When we started working on the show and began casting, I originally thought of my 10-year-old nephew. He’s very smart and lives in Texas, so I thought why not?”
But fate had other plans, and Iain Armitage was casted. Iain who is not new to the small or big screen has given phenomenal performances before in shows and movies like, Big Little Lies; I’m not here, and Our Souls At Night among many others. He has also lent his voice to a role in the upcoming SCOOB! movie.
Sheldon meets Oprah Winfrey!
In another interview with Ellen Degeneres on the Ellen Show in 2017, guest stars Jim Parsons and Iain Armitage seemed to have been very close to each other. As Ellen asks Armitage about his experience on the spin-off prequel, he expresses with great enthusiasm on how much he loves being on screen. “I love playing Sheldon. There’s a lot of earning with each episode…Jim really helps me understand. He’s a great Sheldon coach.”
In the same interview, the 8-year-old was very excited to talk about the time he got to meet Oprah Winfrey. “When I met Ms. Oprah, a thought that my grandmother loves Oprah so much popped in my head. So I thought, if I could get a picture with her, my momay would be so jealous” said Iain.
Jim and Iain have more things in common than you may know
On speaking with Entertainment Today, Parsons talks about how “jaw-dropping” Iain’s audition tape was. “There were such complex monologues which he spoke so fluently. I was so impressed with him, we immediately knew we had to cast him,” said Parsons.
Besides acting in TV shows and movies, Iain is a talented Tap dancer and loves Broadway which Jim enjoys as well. As a surprise, Jim took Iain to a Broadway show which he loved being at very much. Young Sheldon is currently on its 3rd season and will air its 4th season in September 2020.
