If you’ve been wanting to watch the original Gilmore Girls season 8 for quite some time, you’re definitely in luck, as the series has been renewed for a new season.
Gilmore girls originally debuted in 2000 until the show ended in 2007. The series was revived with a limited series 4 part episodes plot in 2016 with original casts Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as leads.

Is the Netflix revival really season 8?
The revived series is set nearly a decade after the finale of the original series. This revival follows Lorelai, Rory and Emily Gilmore through four seasons of change.
According to some online reports, the original Gilmore Girls, has of yet, has only 7 seasons and the reboot is a fresh series beginning with season 1. Following which there could be a season 2 considering Rory’s pregnancy is a mystery and that was definitely some cliffhanger fans would like to know more about.

According to the fan, “We would’ve seen more development of lane’s kids and the birth of sookie’s 3rd kid. We would’ve hopefully saw luke and lorelai officially get married. while rory and logan have some sort of fling. Jess probably would’ve returned, too”

While there is no official statement by the showrunners, there are speculations that the season might be a work in progress after a decision is made on whether there will be a season 2 for the Gilmore Girl Netflix revival series.
