What is The Crown about?
The series follows the royal life of Queen Elizabeth II who at a very young age had to take the throne upon her father’s death. From her marriage to Prince Philip, to her relationship with Lady Diana Spencer, to entering and understanding the modern world of the 21st century, the series covers it all.

The Crown has been well acclaimed by critics as “class act”, “beautiful” and “confident.” Peter Morgan’s masterfully researched scripts reveal the Queen’s private journey behind the public facade with daring frankness. This drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.
How much of The Crown is true?
Since the series is based on historical facts, not everything about it has been accurate. While facts about her majesty remain true, it is the undocumented real incidents, political drama and certain facts about supporting roles that have been altered.
The series grew out of Morgan’s movie ‘The Queen’ (2006) and his stage play ‘The Audience’ (2013), and is credited as based on the latter. In an interview with Town&Country, Josh O’Connor who plays young Prince Charles said, “We are creating a work of fiction, albeit based in some reality. But ultimately, there’s only so much research you can do,”
How much of the series has the Queen watched yet?
Internal affairs of the Queen and her royal family are usually kept a little ‘hush-hush’ unless there is a formal announcement by her majesty or any member of the royal family.
According to online sources, the Queen does watch The Crown, has thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it, and gives it a royal stamp of approval.
