WHO organizes World Blood Donor Day every year on 14 June. The idea behind the day is to spread awareness for the requirement of safe blood. Moreover, it also celebrates the value of blood donors for their self-less service to humanity.
Safer blood for all
Where does the blood flow?
WHO is answering why is donating your blood important. And how can you be of a helping hand to those in need-
This year, the goal of the campaign is “universal access to safe blood transfusion”. It is being complemented by the slogan “Safe Blood for All”. Along with this, WHO aims to thank blood donors across the world on World Blood Donors Day.
In addition to this, the host of the global event 2019 is Rwanda. This is to appreciate Rwanda’s policy that has been in place since 1985. This policy states that blood donation must be unpaid and voluntary. Moreover, blood should be provided free-of-charge to the patients in need.
