Let’s look at what course the hilarious franchise of Trailer Park Boys could take and what kind of a new season is in store for us.
The hilarious hijinks of the trailer park gang couldn’t have been made to stay away from the audience for long, and so it hasn’t! One of the funniest mockumentary-style TV shows to break out of Canada, which has run for more than a decade, promises to run a bit more on Netflix.
The ‘Trailer Park Boys’ new season promises to be as fabulous and laugh-out-loud funny as the petty plans and larger-than-life dreams of Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles can make them.

Following the gang in their outrageous schemes as they live in a trailer park in a fictional Canadian town, ‘Trailer Park Boys’ ended on an outlandish cliff-hanger at the end of season 12, where the boys swallow a tad bit too many mushrooms in an effort to avoid getting arrested with drugs, and find themselves transformed into cartoons.
This is actually the inception of the show’s spin-off, ‘Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series’, which has had two seasons of its own. And since the animated version is also a continuation of the live-action version, it remains to be seen what course the new season will take.

But, before that, let’s address the question topmost in our minds. When will this fabulous new season release?
Well, as it so happens, there is no official statement from Netflix yet about the release of a new season. But fret not, this isn’t unusual. The creators of the show and Netflix have set a nice precedent about giving ‘Trailer Park Boys’ fans no prior warning before releasing a season. Take for example the way season 12 of the show was announced – it was to be released on March 2019, and fans were told of it in February 2019!
In terms of the cast, while the main gang, who are also the creators of the show, will most certainly be back, less sure of return is the character of Mr Lahey. Played by John Dunsworth who passed away in 2017 after filming season 12, Mr Lahey also consumes mushrooms and finds himself in a jail cell along with the boys, turned into a cartoon.

Although Mr Lahey appears in the animated version, we wonder what the creators will do with his character in case of a live-action season of the show.

But what course will the new season take?
At the close of season 12, the boys turn into animated versions of themselves. Seasons 13 and 14 have the boys go about their misadventures in their cartoon forms. Will the ‘Trailer Park Boys’ new season, or season 15, continue to be animated?
One possibility for the new season is to reverse back into live-action in a similar way that the gang was turned into cartoons. However, something entirely different seems to be brewing.
The team seems to have been teasing fans in the form of posts on Instagram and Facebook about a potential live-action project that could revolve around the Sunnyvale Correctional Facility, the very same jail in which we saw the gang devour the mushrooms. Moreover, Michael Smith, who plays the character of Bubbles, has even confirmed a live-action series of the show centring around the jail.
Now, could this be season 15, or a side project by the creators? We’ll know for sure soon enough! Until then, stay tuned for updates about the show!
