‘Blue Bloods’: A peek into the show’s history
Created by the married writing team Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess, the show features the multi-generational Reagan family and their story. Everyone in this family has a career in law enforcement. The story plays through the lives of Frank Reagan, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Jamie (Will Estes), and Erin (Bridget Moynahan).
‘Blue Bloods’ is a show based in New York and is about the people there.
Though it doesn’t seem to get a lot of attention on media, it is an undoubtedly amazing series because, well, numbers don’t lie. The show has consistently had a dedicated fan base of an average of 12.95 million and has also managed to make it to the top 10 shows.
Tom Selleck talks about the future of the show
Tom Selleck has said in a highly optimistic tone, that the unexpected ending of the show, three episodes earlier than originally planned, is probably for the best as the show ended with as much surprise as originally desired. Selleck told “Parade.com” in an exclusive that,
He adds that he feels there is still a lot left for the show to offer, not because the story demands it but because the viewers deserve it.
“It just was one of those things, where we’re doing the show and you’re going, ‘Oh, my God, too bad this isn’t the season finale’. I’m not kidding. I’m not making this up. I’m not just hyping it. I’ve seen it and I know it will be one of my favourite Blue Bloods”.
Speaking about the grand renewal that Tom Selleck wanted, he said, “Well, I’m negotiating with CBS about next season. I’d like them to order two seasons. We can do much betters shows if we know where we’re going. This show has lasted because the characters have been allowed to grow and change”. But unfortunately, the show has, for the time being, only been renewed for the 11th season.
‘Blue Bloods’ Season 11 was supposed to start filming in the summers, but things got delayed due to the global pandemic. However, on September 3rd, CBS gave the green light for the cast and crew to return to production in New York, according to “Deadline”.
Season 12 of the show on the way?
We have enough reasons to expect the 12th season. We can never rule out Tom Selleck’s optimism when he said,
“I don’t think there is an end point.” He further added, “I think there is a lot of life in the show, as long as you let your characters grow and get older. There is an evolution. It started as a character-driven show and it’s even more than that now. When you get to a point like this, and we certainly had it on [Magnum P.I.], the audience is really inside the main characters’ heads”.
Selleck said that after a whopping 10 seasons, people are invested in their favourite characters and ‘Blue Bloods’ cannot afford to let them down. Before the official renewal for the 11th season was announced, Donnie Wahlberg had already confirmed it by saying “Yes” to a fan’s question on Twitter.
Though fans are happy with the renewal of the show, we can already gauge that many more seasons are on the way. Though we can’t give you our word on this, we will definitely ask you to keep your hopes high. Go grab your bucket of popcorn and binge-watch the previous seasons, while waiting for the 11th season to arrive. Meanwhile, we will keep a keen eye on the twitter accounts of all the ‘Blue Bloods’ stars, because who knows we might just get to know of a secret?
