Tom Cruise signature running to run him into death – suggest ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ latest official running in the dark images.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ is on the verge of completing its production. Hyping up the near completion of the movie, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie has shared an image of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). It is the first official image from the 7th instalment of one of the most successful action franchises. There is little to no leaked information regarding the movie. The cast and crew are doing their best to reveal nothing but have leaked footage of Tom doing death-defying actions. However, the latest shared image of Tom Cruise, running in a dark alley, holds some hints in it – hints of Ethan Hunt’s death in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.
What’s the connection between McQuarrie’s dark and intense shared image of Tom Cruise on Instagram – and Ethan’s probable death in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’?

‘Mission: Impossible 7’ images hint at Tom Cruise’s death
Writer/Director Christopher McQuarrie has shared the latest official image of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’. McQuarrie has been associated with Mission Impossible since ‘Rogue Nation’ (2015). He has directed ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’, and ‘Mission Impossible: Fallout’. Christopher McQuarrie has also written and directed ‘Jack Reacher’; scripted ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, all of which stars Tom Cruise in the lead.
The latest shared images on his Instagram show Ethan Hunt running in what looks like a dark alley. Though the character is all drowned in the dark, and McQuarrie has not mentioned the movie or anything such in the caption, but no prize in guessing it’s Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt.
Tom Cruise has been running throughout the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise. He had already run so much that it has become his signature stunt among all the out-of-the-world stunts he has done as Ethan Hunt.
Even though there’s nothing new with Tom Cruise running, there’s something suspicious about the photo McQuarrie shared – something that hints at Ethan Hunt’s death in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.
The dark alley – the Blank Caption
It is worth noting that McQuarrie didn’t bother to write anything at all in the caption. Or to say, he kept the caption intentionally blank. Also, there seems to be no reason why McQuarrie will share an image that is all dark, in which Tom Cruise isn’t visible as the character.
The kind of movie ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ is determined to be, it would have made more sense for McQuarrie to share an image of Ethan standing on top of a Boeing, or jumping from the Eiffel Tower, or riding a BMW bike down Mount Everest. All of it would have made more sense than the dark and intense image he shared unless he wanted to hint at something extremely intense or dark waiting for the audience.
Also, the blank caption is adding to the emptiness the image is trying to symbolize. It would have made more sense to write something promotional, or something teasing about the movie. Instead, the director chose a specific way to show us that Tom Cruise might face death in the upcoming ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.
What if Tom Cruise dies in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’?
It’s indeed a far-fetched symbolic interpretation of the dark image and the blank caption. But Tom Cruise’s death is not necessarily a distant possibility in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.
Tom Cruise to face death in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ – a new Ethan to carry forward the franchise? Hints the images shared by the director.
Ethan keeps diving into the devil’s den with fatal missions and death-defying stuns. But he might not be able to defy death this time. Given that ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ is already in the pipeline, the franchise is supposed to keep going.
However, Tom Cruise is nearing his 60s. It seems rather difficult for the actor to continue with such strength in the coming future. Thus, it makes sense for Paramount Pictures to kill Ethan Hunt and introduce a new agent on time to keep the franchise running.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’, and ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ are plotted to be filmed simultaneously. This could be another hint at the makers planning to introduce a new agent in quick succession.
Or the death of Tom Cruise in ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ can be a quick and temporary glance into the other world. Ethan might die and then come back. There’s no doubt that Tom Cruise is still more capable of pulling off ‘Missions: Impossible‘ better than any young actor the franchise might dare to cast.
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ is slated to release on 19 November 2021, starring Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Nicholas Hoult.
