The star of “The Carol Burnett Show” died on Tuesday. He was 85.
He was the winner of four Emmy awards – three for co-starring in the Carol Burnett Show, and fourth for being a member of the show’s writing team.
Conway’s long time friend and colleague Burnett expressed her feelings, “I’m heartbroken. He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He’ll be in my heart forever.”
Conway was quoted in 2010 that he had dreamed of a career in comedy since he was a child. “I was really kind of the class clown.” He added, “When you’re small, you either are funny or you get beat up a lot.”
