Let’s find out.
Will there be a reboot of ‘The Office’?
To all the fans out there, unfortunately, there is no reboot under development. However, the producer of the show, Greg Daniels, is inclined towards the idea of a possible reboot in the near future. In an exclusive interview with “Collider”, Greg opened about the chances of a reboot:
“No but it’s not impossible. It’s not impossible for sure. I would want to be involved, and I’ve got two other shows I’m working on right now.”
Well, Greg’s positive attitude towards the reboot does spark a ray of hope. Doesn’t it?
If there will be a reboot, who all can we expect to return to the show?
As far as we know, Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski are very much open to the idea of a reboot. In fact, in a conversation with “Esquire”, John expresses his feelings about his first very show,
“The Office was absolutely everything to me. I mean it is my beginning and my end. I’m pretty sure at the end of my career I’ll still be known for Jim. That was my first experience with Hollywood. It was the first creative family I’ve ever had”
Said John.
“In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So, yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it”

He further added.
And it is not just John, even Rainn, in an interview with “TV Web“, extended his support for ‘The Office’ reboot,
“I’d love to revisit The Office. I’ve told [creator and showrunner] Greg Daniels that I would love to do something. They’re gearing up for putting it on Peacock. Maybe someday we’ll do something. It’s funny, I hear things like, ‘We can’t do anything because we ended this show perfectly, and we don’t wanna do anything else’. But then, someone will send some idea that’s just preposterous and I don’t know what to think. Hopefully, one day. The fans would really love it. That’s the thing that counts the most. The fans would really love to see those characters again and have an experience with them”.
Can we expect to see Steve Carell returning for the reboot?
Well, Steve has explicitly said that the idea of a possible reboot doesn’t interest him much and for the reasons he gave “Collider”, we can’t help but agree with his disinterest in the reboot,
“I’ll tell you, no. I feel like I’m a broken record, talking about this because I get asked about it. The show is way more popular now than when it was on the air. I just can’t see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn’t be. Ultimately, I think it’s maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was”.
He further expressed his love for his character Michael Scott and the show, ‘The Office’.
“You’d literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn’t be the same”
The former cast member confessed.
“So, no. But, I love the show. It was the most exciting time, and all of those people are my friends. We all love it. It was a special thing. It was a special thing before people thought it was a special thing. It was special to us before other people started feeling that way. But, no.”
Well, we can’t really say if the reboot of ‘The Office’ will be a lost cause with Steve Carell not being a part of it. What do you think about the same? Do you agree with Steve’s reasoning? Let us know whether you are looking forward to the reboot of ‘The Office’.
