The Big Bang Theory might finally get rid of major plot holes in Young Sheldon season 4
The Big Bang Theory has had a successful run of 12 long seasons. It concluded with Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler finally getting married.
But the geeky and fascinating character of Sheldon Cooper continues to make us laugh and smile with The Big Bang Theory’s spin-off prequel Young Sheldon.

- Observations from Young Sheldon
Young Sheldon started its journey back in 2017 when its main show was still running and gave us interesting insights into the childhood of Sheldon Cooper.

The show created a very engaging past of its main lead, but both the series have discrepancies and potholes that didn’t escape the attention of the eagle-eyed fans. They are so closely interlinked, that’s only fair for us to draw comparisons.
So where does this nerdy sitcom show doesn’t line up? Let’s explore!
One of the glaring plot holes is the relationship of Sheldon Cooper with his father. In The Big Bang Theory, his father wasn’t spoken about in detail (and he never sounded thrilled talking about his family anyway), but the spin-off shows a loving relationship between the two characters.
His father may not have been able to understand his son’s intellectually eccentric side, but he always stood up for him when needed. So there was definitely a loving bond between the two.
We also finally got to see Sheldon’s elder brother who was invited to the former’s wedding in Big Bang Theory’s finale. Another plot hole filled by Young Sheldon is the story of Tam and Sheldon. Throughout the show, Sheldon never mentioned his childhood friend until the last episode when Tam finally shows up.
The episode called ‘Tam Turbulence’ in the twelfth season of The Big Bang Theory showcases both the friends getting in touch again after twenty-some years! It cleared the air for us that Sheldon was just upset when his friend had moved away in the younger years, and he had just blocked him out. So the reunion between the two of them was definitely sweet.
Some other discrepancies between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory
Spin-offs are not uncommon in the entertainment industry, but their success cannot depend on their main shows either. But the crossover between Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory has received a great response from the audiences.

From the lovely storyline to brilliant performances, the two shows had a great run from the beginning. But even they cannot escape some inconsistencies which might be too obvious to ignore.
Sheldon always claimed that he was bullied in high school, but his younger version seemed to have been okay, with an occasional eye roll or two from his counterparts. He was an introvert and okay being by himself, so the adult Sheldon really exaggerated his experience of being bullied to his friends in the later years.
Another discrepancy is his family. It’s strange how Sheldon’s family members are portrayed in very different ways, whether it’s his mother (Mary Cooper), sister (Missy), or father George Sr). It’s not easy to relate the mother-daughter duo from both the shows, but the difference was especially stark when it came to Sheldon’s father.
In TBBT, he’s described as a ‘drunk’, and how Sheldon traumatically caught with another woman. The difference is huge as George in Young Sheldon is very affectionate with his family and is a doting father.
So it’s yet to be seen whether season 4 of Young Sheldon will explore the darker parts of Sheldon’s life.
