When is ‘The Witcher 2’ premiering?
‘The Witcher’ Season 2 is finally gearing up to release on Netflix. While the return of the action-packed drama is yet to have an official release date, Netflix is teasing the fans in the meantime with new set images of few interesting character surprises to give a sneak peek into the world of ‘The Witcher’ Season 2.

We know that just like other shows, production on ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 has already been impacted by the on-going global pandemic of coronavirus. But, thankfully, it is back in full swing now despite the introduction of a second national lockdown in England, as film and TV production was exempted.
Our best guess is that ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 is likely to hit screens sometime in 2021, though there’s no exact release date revealed yet.
After filming resumed in August 2020, Henry Cavill went back to putting pictures of his Geralt wig on Instagram.
Addressing the unclear release date, Lauren S. Hissrich said in a Reddit AMA:
“We don’t yet have a target launch date for season 2, past 2021”.
New and returning cast
Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri) will all be seen reprising their respective roles in ‘The Witcher’ Season 2. Netflix has revealed the full cast for the show, including key new characters.
New casting includes Mecia Simson starring as Francesca, Aisha Fabienne Ross will play Lydia, and Agnes Bjorn will be seen as Vereena. “Deadline” reported that Carmel Laniado has also joined the cast as a young character called Violet and will be seen in, at least, three episodes.
Where are Geralt and Ciri heading?
According to the official synopsis of ‘The Witcher’ Season 2, and as expected from the show, Ciri is all set to take the centre stage.
Interestingly, in the books, Ciri’s story makes up the central plot of the saga. As the main character, the book gives the readers a sneak peek into her relationship with Geralt and her ongoing efforts to survive. Considering the official stills released by the makers of the show, it looks like season 2 will adapt, at least in part, Andrzej Sapkowski’s “Blood of Elves”. In the novel, Ciri and Geralt head to Kaer Morhen, where the White Wolf’s fellow witchers — Lambert, Eskel, Coën, and Vesemir — help train the Cintran princess, Ciri.
To remind you, Ciri technically cannot become a witcher herself. But it appears that she’ll be doing some rigorous training during her time at the famed castle.
Take a look at Netflix’s official synopsis:
“Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside”.
In addition, Netflix also dropped official stills earlier this year.
Not just that, the ‘Man of Steel’ actor Henry Cavill also posted a few never-seen-before images from the upcoming season, featuring monster slayer Geralt of Rivia in brand new armour with a quote from the “Witcher” novels.
Just like fans, we too can’t wait to watch season 2 of Netflix’s action-packed fantasy series ‘The Witcher’, which is all set to show Ciri battle-ready alongside Geralt.
