The Zombie Walkers started walking in 2010 and haven’t stopped since. Scroll down to find out the release dates of The Walking Dead season 11 and if something can hamper The Walking Dead’s infinity walk.
The Walking Dead Season 11 premiere date
AMC network renewed The Walking Dead for season 11 back in October 2019. Writer and co-producer of the apocalyptic thriller, Kevin Deiboldt teased fans with a photograph from Writer’s Room of TWD that proves that the show is already in production.
Yes, they are back. The Walking Dead season 11 will be the third season for producer Angela Kang, who has steered TWD to its best-reviewed seasons in series history. Rotten Tomatoes site consensus says for season 10,
“A few changes in front of and behind the camera allow TWD to create space for compelling new stories and some seriously scary new adversaries.”
Premiered in October 2019, Season 10 will finish airing by April 12, 2020. Season 11 is already in works and like always will premiere in the Halloween month of October and November. There is no better time for The Walkers to resurface than the month of the ghosts.
The Walking Dead Season 11 to bring back Maggie Greene
Makers have confirmed that fans’ favourite Maggie Greene will make her highly-anticipated return in the upcoming part of The Walking Dead. In October 2019, Kang confirmed Lauren Cohan (who left the series after season 9) would return as a series regular in season 11, but also hinted towards her appearance in the second half of season 10.
Kang previously told Entertainment Weekly. “Maggie is a character that I’ve always loved writing for on the show. She’s a character that I thought was just so much fun in the comic book.”
Widowed Maggie quietly left Virginia with her son Hershel during the six-year time jump that followed the disappearance and presumed death of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Maggie is far away somewhere assisting Georgie (Jayne Atkinson) with a new community and can make her return in later half of TWD season 10. But how exactly she will make a comeback is still under wraps.
Commonwealth introduction in The Walking Dead season 11
What’s the fuss over TWD commonwealth? As we all know, TWD TV series is inspired by the Walking Dead Comics. Pamela Milton heads the TWD Commonwealth in the comics. There were previously questions about impending Commonwealth track after Maggie encountered a character called Georgie (Jayne Atkinson) who resembled Pamela in the comics.
The Walking Dead is about anarchy and bringing Commonwealth like institution will mean re-building social order and will mean winding up the series.
The Executive producer of the Zombie horror drama series, Scott M. Gimple told Entertainment Weekly: “The Commonwealth is its own thing. There are a lot of changes to the comic story and the show, but it is important to me, and to Angela, to tell the story from the comic.”
He further added:
“There might be some weird minor ways that it touches, if at all, but it’s a version of the story from the comic.”
With this statement from the caption of the ship, we can relax that Commonwealth track will not apply brakes to the infinity walk of The Walking Dead and many more are waiting to be unleashed.
