‘Gilmore Girls’ returned a decade later with ‘A Year in the Life’, but only left us with more unresolved plot holes!
Have you forgiven the makers for ending the series with that cliffhanger? Yes, the ultimate question- Who is Rory’s baby’s father? Well, there are a few more unexplained loopholes that we have ignored in the process of speculating Rory’s baby’s father. Don’t bother because we have listed down all the unresolved plot holes that we want ‘Gilmore Girls’ to answer in the next season.
- Was Richard ever sued by Jason, a Gilmore Girls unresolved plot hole?
- Why did Lorelai marry without her daughter?
- How did Obama’s campaign go for Rory?
- The right man for Rory
- Who is the father of Rory’s baby?
1. Was Richard ever sued by Jason, a Gilmore Girls unresolved plot hole?
It was because of Jason and Richard’s bitter business that Lorelai decided to break up with Richard. Richard had cut Jason out of his business, which actually started the fight. We heard Jason saying that he is going to sue Richard for what he did to him.
The hoopla around the business ultimately broke the heart of Lorelai. She ended up breaking up with Richard. Because we know Lorelai can’t keep a relationship with someone who is suing her family. If Rory was in her place, things might have been different! We still don’t know whether Jason sued Richard or not? ‘A Year in the Life‘ wasted episodes on unnecessary subplots and couldn’t resolved this plot hole. They could have devoted an episode on how Lorelai deals with Jason when he sues the family.
2. Why did Lorelai marry without her daughter?
No one expected that Lorelai will marry Christopher. But she did. Lorelai was attracted to Christopher from time to time. They had an on and off relationship. Their sudden marriage sequence was a shocker for many. But the bigger shock was something else. Lorelai married Christopher in Paris, without Rory in attendance. She celebrated the most important moment in her life without her beloved daughter. How could Lorelai decide to get married without her beloved daughter Rory in attendance?
The whole scenario is a bit confusing and we demand an immediate answer from the makers of the series. ‘A Year in the Life’ was all about Luke and Lorelai and forgot to explain Lorelai’s tryst with Christopher. Why did Lorelai choose to marry Christopher without Rory? We hope that the makers find an answer to this plot hole in the next season.
3. What about Obama’s campaign?
We saw Rory blowing up interviews in ‘A Year in the Life’. But, her biggest moment came in ‘Gilmore Girls’ Season 7, when she grabbed a spot on the campaign trail covering Obama’s candidacy. It was a moment to celebrate for Rory and her diehard fans. Unfortunately, ‘Gilmore Girls’ reboot ‘A Year in the Life’ was silent on the campaign. Maybe because it is Trump’s era now! We will never get to know whether she messed up while reporting the campaign like she does every other time. It seems this plot hole will never be resolved!

4. The right man for Rory
Both Rory and Lorelai have so many so-called potential boyfriends. Unfortunately, for Rory, an already engaged Logan has been a prominent part of her life. Rory is inexplicably mad about him, despite knowing that he is cheating on her fiancé.
Though Rory is bizarrely okay with it, she deserves someone better. Fans were delighted when the original series ended with their breakup. We can safely say Jess is to Rory what Luke is to Lorelai. By all logic, Jess should be the right man for her. But ‘A Year in the Life’ completely ignored the plot around Jess. We saw so less of Jess on ‘A Year in the Life’ that we don’t know what he is thinking about Rory. Does he still love her? Cutting short Jess’s part on Gilmore Girls has create one big plot hole, that remains unresolved. A part of us prays that Rory’s baby’s mysterious father is Jess!!! (Fingers crossed)
5. Who is the father of Rory’s baby?
Finally, the burning question that ‘A Year in the Life’ left us with. The last four words brought the series to a full circle. But the bigger question was who the father of Rory’s baby is? The question still trends on fan forums dedicated to discussions on ‘Gilmore Girls’.
Though Logan seems the most probable option because of his similarity to Christopher, the mystery father could also be someone between Jess and Paul. Many fans are rooting for Jess. They are writing theories that Rory cheated on Logan and rekindled romance with Jess behind the audience’s eyes. Paul is another option. He is the so-called boyfriend of Rory and chances of him being the father is very dim, even though anything is possible at this point.
