Did Tony Soprano want to sleep with his therapist Dr Jennifer Melfi?
Yes, Tony felt sexually attracted to Melfi. During the therapy sessions, Dr Jennifer Melfi was able to uncover Tony Soprano’s hatred towards his mother who was a self-absorbed and miserably manipulative woman. When Tony confessed his feelings for her, she suggested his feelings of love and lust may have nothing to do with her personality. She pointed out that just because she’s gentle and listened to him, and because she’s an Italian woman like his wife and mother, he’s projecting onto her traits that he found lacking in the women in his life.

There was another time when a smitten Tony kissed Melfi and she rebuffed him. However, later she had a steamy dream in which they both made love to each other. Did this dream change her desires? Or was she able to keep up an entirely professional relationship with Tony?
What … were Melfi and Tony under the same sheets?
In one of the episodes of ‘The Sopranos’, we see Tony in a candle-lit bedroom where he is being fellated by a woman under the sheets. When he pulls the sheets back, we find out that the woman is none other than Dr Melfi.
Another time, Tony was in his home bathroom when he heard the shower next to the toilet. He glanced over to see the figure of a naked woman through the frosted glass doors. The shower stopped and Melfi appeared from behind the door. She looked at Tony, smirked, and purred. Does this mean they slept together? No! Because this was all in Tony’s dreams! And here, you’re all excited to digest that Tony Soprano and Dr Jennifer Melfi finally let their guards down. Weren’t you? (We know you were!)
How many times did Melfi dream of being in Tony Soprano’s bed?
Did they ever sleep together or not?
They both fantasize about each other but sleeping together was a big deal. Though they had dreams about having sex with each other, they didn’t sleep with each other. Thanks to Melfi’s decision of keeping their relationship professional. It speaks a lot about her moral character and personality.
Jennifer Melfi’s choice of not sleeping with Tony Soprano was undoubtedly challenging but sleeping with him would have caused insurmountable damage to her. Honestly, the ‘will they’ or ‘won’t they’ tension in the series is far more powerful and hooking than any scene of them sleeping together. A sex scene would have been disappointing because then, the relationship would have ended shortly after that. Tony would have moved on as he did with everybody else.
We know that Dr Jennifer Melfi was attracted to Tony Soprano but despite this, she did not give in to the circumstances. She showed a realistic approach to the situation and proved that she is not just a woman who’s out for sex but a strong woman who doesn’t let anybody but herself control her life.
