Recalling the episode “Star Mort Rick turn of the Jerri”
Everyone had one question towards the end of season 4 of ‘Rick and Morty’, whether or not Beth is a clone. When Beth’s space counterpart finds a bomb in her neck, she realises that she can be a clone; this makes her want to return to Earth. However, when Beth tries to get the truth out of Rick’s mouth, she couldn’t find an answer. Nevertheless, this angers both the Beths, which, in turn, helps them in connecting with one another.
The climax reaches its peak when both Beths and Rick couldn’t take over Phoenixperson, but this is when Jerry comes to the rescue and the family saves Earth. Now comes the question, which is the real Beth? This is when a twist is added as there is no real Beth because the real Beth was left behind after the destruction of human civilization.
Co-creator Dan Harmon reveals some facts about the development of season 7
Dan Harmon, at the virtual panel at the Adult swim festival 2020, spoke openly about the show’s intent for season 7. Harmon revealed that the crew had already started to work on the 7th season of the show.
In between the release of season 3 and season 4, Adult Swim had ordered for 70 episodes, which will be further divided into seasons.
In an article by “Screenrant”, it was stated that amidst the q&a round between the cast and the fans, Harmon took it upon himself to tease the audience by dropping hints about season 7,
“I think we’re working on season 7 right now, I can’t even keep track. I wouldn’t know if I were spoiling season 5 or season 6″.
He further mentioned,
“Pretty groovy things coming regarding Beth, Space Beth was not a one-off character”.
The lockdown came as a blessing for the creators of ‘Rick and Morty’
In another virtual event, Harmon stated that this lockdown has indeed impacted him in a positive way, and also helped other crew members who are working on the show.
After hearing Dan talk about the upcoming season of ‘Rick and Morty’ with sheer enthusiasm, it seems like all this time in lockdown is the reason behind all their work on the development of the season 7 of the show.
When will season 5 air?
The fans of ‘Rick and Morty’ had to wait quite long for season 4 of the show to air; however, the same will not be the case for season 5. Yes, you heard that right! Surprisingly, despite the COVID situation, the production of season 5 is going on-track.
In a virtual conversation at “PaleyFest NY 2020”, the co-creator of the animated sitcom, Dan Harmon, spoke a little bit about the timely release of the next season.
Harmon said, “We’re more on schedule than we’ve ever been”
Admitting that the unprecedented digital workflow caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has actually been extremely beneficial in the show’s creation, while live-action projects have stopped and started.
“It kind of makes you have to focus on the whole process when you don’t have this office environment anymore. Everyone has to run this bee colony remotely, so the honey just gets made more consistently. It’s working for us.”
Even if we don’t have a fixed date for season 5 yet, the news about season 7 being under works, just brings an assurance to all of us that we can expect a timely release of the next few seasons. And, if we really think about it, since there are 70 more episodes, there have to be more seasons than just 7. Now, this is the kind of news we have been waiting for in 2020. Right?
