The only question on everyone’s minds is whether or not Jesse and Walter will make their much-anticipated appearance in the season finale of ‘Better Call Saul’?
Decoding the rumour
The co-creator of ‘Breaking Bad’, Peter Gould, recently appeared in an interview for an entertainment portal in the USA and was quoted as saying that the makers of ‘Better Caul Saul’ do not have any obligation towards the fans to include Jesse Pinkman and Walter White in the season finale.

The duo last shared screen time in the blockbuster ‘El Camino’ movie which was loved immensely by fans. ‘El Camino’ was the much-needed closure for the arc of Jessie Pinkman and a solid one at that!
But, on the other hand, Gould personally would also love to have Cranston and Paul back. The co-creator especially wishes for Bryan to direct an episode for ‘Better Caul Saul’.
He added that he would love to have Walter White and Jesse Pinkman back for the final season but was careful to not reveal any concrete details about their appearance.
Co-creator Peter Gould also let fans know that the pandemic has not slowed down the writing process in any way for the final season of ‘Better Call Saul’. He also let in on the fact that series creator Vince Gilligan is back in the driver’s seat for the final season, after not being at the helm for a few seasons. Gould further shared that they are nearly through the writing of episode 4 for the final season and that the creators will answer every doubt that the fans have ever had.
Which “Better Call Saul” Character Are You? (Quiz)
Do we want Walter White to return to the screen?
The issue with the final season of any successful series is that it needs to plug in every story arc and unanswered question, thereby driving the narrative. But no matter how good of an ending you write, someone will always be displeased.
Series finales are always divisive. Everyone imagines a different ending for their favourite characters and that is the catch here- no ending is perfect.
But, on the flip side, the creators wish to avoid blatant fan service and include certain characters like Walter White and Jesse Pinkman only if there is a genuine need for the same in the script. The sixth and final season of ‘Better Call Saul’ is expected to be released in 2021.
Walter White had his closure in the series finale of ‘Breaking Bad’ and Jessie Pinkman got his due with ‘El Camino’. Do audiences want to undo all that and bring them back, even as flashbacks or from yesteryears? Knowing how it all ends, is it worth it to drag the two iconic characters back on the screen? They both had a perfect ending – why mess it up now?
