In the wake of the success of Netflix’s show Money Heist, the audience of the show has grown tremendously. It’s relevance to pop-culture has become phenomenal and some characters unforgettable.
And the second you’re reaching the top, there are comparisons drawn.
Another cult-classic Breaking Bad is quite similar to the essence of what Money Heist is all about and their central figures even more so. Fans were quick to draw parallels between Walter White from Breaking Bad and The Professor from Money Heist and we are here to draw these parallels out.
If Walter White and The Professor were to face each other, who would out-smart the other?

The Not Born Leaders
Walter White is your next door neighbour who is also a drug lord and mastermind, leaving a wake of destruction if anything comes his way. The Professor in his own right is too a mastermind and a genius with very few mistakes to spare and also someone you would pass a casual hello to while crossing him in the street.
What makes them different from the characters we see on screen and similar to each other is that- They are Architects that design people and not just plans.
They both are geniuses in their own respective way who have a way to manipulate people and situations according to their will. Both are equally determined and calculative to do whatever it takes to get what they want.
But who is the bigger man (mastermind?)
We Are Set Apart But Together
Some would argue that The Professor is a genius of a superhuman magnitude given his uncanny ability to have an already orchestrated plan for every scenario. This has a lot to do with the fact that the show Money Heist falls into borderline hyper-realism where one could argue it’s validity in real life.

Whereas, Walter White belongs to the world of actual realism and the character could not be more real than it already is. Not only is Walter a genius with shrewd capabilities of utmost level, he also has a way of manipulating people and calculates every step and movement for his benefit.
Professor though independent, is also very dependable on his team of people to execute the plan and can only do so much as to make it work. Whereas, Walter has a knack for working alone and doesn’t depend too much on other people for his successes.
War Of Wits: Who Is It?
But because this is not a discussion for a world where hyper-realism does not exist, The Professor does have a lot playing in his favour. He is more level-headed than White is and has a number of people he can trust. While Walter never goes by any plan and truly believes in the expression “winging it” The Professor has a carefully laid out plan for everything. (And that’s not exaggerating)
So, while it may be uncertain who exactly is a better man between the two, Walter White and The Professor will go down in history as two of the most unforgettable characters to grace our screens, mostly for their sheer courage of doing everything they can for to achieve their end aim…even if it involves drugs or robbery.
And in an age of Superheroes and super-humans, a flawed human being with more than a single shade of just goodness is always welcome. Who do you like better? Let us know in the comments below!
