Penny, played by Kaley Cuoco, was the fashion queen in the group that has a sense of style and sense of the world. But five times her outfit choices on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ made us question her crown.
Penny was the original female lead in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, appearing from the very first episode, before being joined by Bernadette Rostenkowski and Amy Farrah Fowler. Though ‘The Big Bang Theory’ cast her as the dumb blonde, her importance was realised by the gang because she was the only street smart member in the group. And, yes, she did possess the common sense that was uncommon in the gang.
Amy looked up to her and considered her the most beautiful and fashionable person she’s ever met. But in the following five moments, with her bizarre outfit choices, she compels us to call her an overrated fashionista.
Check out the five times Penny overdid her style in the show.
1) How can she not know that blues and greens don’t go together?
We agree that Penny makes the boys go week in their knees. She is street smart, sweet, and beautiful. But anyone who isn’t even a fashion connoisseur knows blue and green don’t go together.
We saw her donning a hell of blue and green together in the early seasons of ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Moreover, her hoody choices make her an overhyped fashion queen from ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
2) Why Penny wore that burgundy coloured suit on ‘The Big Bang Theory’?
We aren’t saying she should never wear suits. She absolutely rocks in suits and pants. But this time everything went wrong with the burgundy coloured suit and white shirt. The entire outfit looked clumsy on her.
Rather than looking confident and smart, she wasn’t flattering this time. Suits often make women look smarter, but this suit proved to be a disaster for Penny. Neither the colour nor the fitting worked in her favour. What was she thinking when she made that choice? We didn’t expect this from Penny because she was supposed to carry the load of fashion on her shoulders in the ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
3) Oh yes, that’s a disappointing sequin dress
There’s absolutely no problem in taking risks. Penny also does many experiments with her looks on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and we love that about her. But this particular experiment was like a lab accident. Even though she looked okay in that dress, we don’t think this dress will look good on any other person.
Though sparkling, this dress wasn’t a head turning-one!
4) Again, that pink suit that Penny wore on ‘The Big Bang Theory’
We aren’t against her wearing suits. She has rocked the suits look earlier on ‘The Big Bang Theory’. In one episode, Penny shows up in an elegant, sleek black suit and a white button-up for her interview. She looked professional and absolutely stunning. That time she looked ready to tackle anything.
But this pink suit look did not go too well because it is too much pink from head to toe. It was a big moment for Penny when she wore this dress. She did stand out in the moment, but not in a good sense!
5) And this last disappointing casual look
We have seen Penny’s fascination with collars on ‘The Big Bang Theory’. She experiments with them, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
This was one such look which makes us question her fashion queen status. Who would choose a loose-fitted shirt and a collar with baggy jeans? The look was absolutely bland.
Penny might not get a next time to make amends as ‘The Big Bang Theory’ has ended its run. We hope, years later, Chuck Lorre reconsiders his decision of cancelling the show and reboots the series.
For Penny, all we can say is better luck next time! We hope she gets a next time!
