Sheldon Cooper and gang will separate only to be reunited in their 50s-something for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13. Bazinga!
‘The Big Bang Theory’ was planned to have season 13 and beyond before Jim Parsons decided to leave the show. Showrunner Chuck Lorre had a lot of ideas in his mind for the future seasons. One of it was to take a time jump and take a sneak peek into the geek life of the gang in their 50s. Let’s see how they could have taken the story forward from season 12.
- What happened in the finale of TBBT Season 12?
- Why will the cast separate and reunite in their 50s?
- When will the geeky reunion happen in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13
What happened in the finale of TBBT season 12?
In the last, sentimental episode, that we saw teary-eyed, Sheldon and Amy won their Nobel Prize and the elevator was finally fixed.
Penny got pregnant, Amy got a makeover, and Sheldon apologized to his long-suffering friends “for not being the friend you deserve”, even as the most-watched comedy on U.S. television ended its 12-year run.
And last but not the least, hopeless romantic, astrophysicist Raj (Kunal Nayyar) got a date with “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress Sarah Michelle Gellar.
The most touching moment came when the self-centred Sheldon put aside a long, prepared Nobel prize acceptance speech and turned to salute his friends in the audience. “I apologise if I haven’t been the friend you deserve but I want you to know, in my way, I love you all”, he told them.
The show became a pop-culture phenomenon and made nerds cool on TV. The show’s “Bazinga!” catchphrase, used by Sheldon when playing a prank or telling a joke, has inspired the name of a species of bee found in Brazil and a jellyfish found in Australia.
The series saw cameos by the likes of British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, ‘Star Trek’ actors William Shatner and George Takei, and Marvel comic legend Stan Lee.
Everything was going great for the show until Jim Parsons (who played Sheldon Cooper) decided to not do another season. Chuck and co. knew that they can’t pull off the show without Sheldon, so they decided to end the geek-phenomenon.
Why will the cast separate in their 50s?
When Jim was asked by “USA Today” whether he would’ve been happy to create more seasons, he delighted the fans with a “yes, absolutely”.
“We’re still having a good time, and I’m proud of the work. And a lot of people had gainful employment. There are many reasons to keep it going”, he exclaimed.
Some of the fan theories running on social media suggest that Chuck Lorre could have brought ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13 with a time-jump. In the gap period that the camera would not capture, the gang would have gone separate ways.
Sheldon and Amy shift to Switzerland to work in CERN lab and others are doing their stuff in different cities. Then, for some reason, the gang reunites in the same apartment with their grown-up kids.
Surprisingly, the kids will not show character traits similar to their parents but would behave like other members of the gang. Imagine Sheldon and Amy have a Penny-like girl. Bigger shocker will be Penny’s baby who turns out to be a mini- Sheldon.
And we will get to see Howard and Bernadette’s children. And guess what, Uncle Raj isn’t single anymore. He has finally found the lady of his life.
The gang would meet when some of them will be hitting their 50s. The thirteenth season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will capture the geeks loving, laughing, and standing for each other, even in their 50s.
When will the geeky reunion happen on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13?
While there has been no official confirmation yet, in due time the showrunners will realise that they could have created great seasons if they all worked in unison as they have done for the past 12 seasons. At least, that is the hope!
Jim Parsons may, hopefully, like the idea of playing the middle-aged geek as he looks forward to interesting transformations. The gang may then reunite, and tell the world- Geeks are cool forever, even in their 50s.
