‘Friends’ reunion premiere date
The ‘Friends’ reunion was first announced in February 2020. As of now, HBO Max has not declared the official premiere date for the ‘Friends’ reunion. Originally, the reunion was supposed to be filmed in late March 2020 for two days. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the filming of the reunion was facing several delays. After seeing the rise in the coronavirus cases, the filming was postponed indefinitely.

It was confirmed to air on HBO Max in May for the streaming service’s debut. In November 2020, Mathew Perry took to Twitter to announce an update on the ‘Friends’ reunion. He wrote: “Friends reunion being rescheduled for the beginning of March [2021]. Looks like we have a busy year coming up. And that’s the way I like it!“
The reunion will feature the main cast members Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), and Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani). While announcing the reunion, HBO Max had released a statement sharing how the cast and producers are all very excited for the reunion to go into production. It will also be the first time since the show ended that the whole cast will be together on the original sets to reminisce. The reunion will be directed by the series creators David Crane, Marta Kauffman, Kevin Bright, and ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ writer Ben Winston.
Lisa Kudrow confirms shooting for the reunion
Lisa Kudrow recently appeared on Rob Lowe’s podcast, ‘Literally! With Rob Lowe’. There she got a chance to assure fans that the reunion is definitely going to happen. During the podcast, she explained that there are different facets to the ‘Friends’ reunion, and they have already shot packages of things. She shared how she has pre-shot something for it already.
The special will reunite the gang and its co-creators on the original ‘Friends’ Stage 24 of the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. Hence, they will have a lot to reminisce about their time on the series. During the podcast, Lisa Kudrow did clarify that the ‘Friends’ reunion is not a reboot. She shared that the reunion is not like a scripted thing. The six of them are not going to portray their characters. The ‘Friends’ reunion is more about getting all of them together, which just does not happen a lot. It is also something that has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when they ended the iconic series. “I think it’ll be great“, said Kudrow.
Kudrow further shared that the shooting for the ‘Friends’ reunion is slated for early spring. Therefore, fans can rightly expect the shooting to begin sometime in March. The ‘Friends’ reunion special will be an unscripted event that will have a duration of one hour. During the time you will witness the cast revisit the original iconic set and go down memory lane together. Fans can also expect to see some unseen behind-the-scenes footage during the reunion. HBO Max had earlier shared that the reunion is not a new episode of the series.
