10. The Monster at the End of this Book
Written by Nancy Weiner and Julie Siege, and directed by Mike Rohl, this episode in season 4 was a fun poke at the fandom of the series. Besides introducing Chuck, the prophet-god, for the first time in this episode, it also places Sam and Dean at the centre of a side-splitting situation as they find their lives to be a subject of pulp fiction.
9. Death’s Door
Wonderfully scripted and shot, this episode was truly heartbreaking, landing it a spot among the best episodes of ‘Supernatural. As we see Bobby furling up his memories slowly, we realise he is fading away.
The most emotional moment of this episode conjures itself up on the screen when Bobby saves the best memory for the last – Sam and Dean bantering.
8. Mystery Spot
If there was one episode that showed perfection with technique, it was this one. Sam being forced by the trickster into reliving his brother’s death, repeatedly, is not only disheartening but somehow comical. It’s the mouse in the maze approach that makes the episode one of our top 10. The episode explores polarities of emotions as Dean’s death grows to be more amusing each time but at the cost of Sam’s helplessness. This episode strikes the perfect balance between the dark and the humorous.

7. Sympathy for the Devil
Season 5 of ‘Supernatural’ enters a vast arena of possibilities. The first episode of the season surely is one of the best episodes in the run of ‘Supernatural’ as Dean discovers his role of being Michael’s means to save the planet from Lucifer. Furthermore, Dean and Sam find a middle ground to stick together after Sam set Lucifer free.
6. In My Time of Dying
This episode is storytelling at its best. The episode picks up after the cliffhanger left by the season 1 finale as we see Dean’s soul flying around the hospital in which his physical body is tied to life-supporting machines. Toying with the various perspectives ups the ante for this episode, which we believe, gave it a touch of brilliance.

5. Sacrifice
The grand finale of Supernatural season 8, ‘Sacrifice’ was one hell of an emotional ride for the boys.
The angels fall, and Sam’s guilt over letting Dean down makes him seek reparation. Despite Dean trying to stop him, Sam attempts at surrendering in the trial, which sends him in a mountain of pain.
4. Baby
Viewed from the perspective of Dean’s car Baby, this episode is one of the most critically acclaimed episodes of ‘Supernatural’. The entire action happens inside a car and provides a fresh take on the relationship of the Winchester brothers. With risky but creative techniques at play, Baby takes up a spot among the best episodes of ‘Supernatural’.
3. Devil’s Trap
‘Supernatural’ made itself heard loud and clear with this episode at the end of season 1. The episode reunites the Winchester men as they go up against Azazel, a demon that they fail to kill. What happens next is that we are left on a massive cliffhanger as the trio ends up in a car crash.
2. No Rest for the Wicked
The one episode that races your heart and keeps your mouth gaped in shock is the one where Dean is killed off. The episode takes off with the hellhounds coming to collect Dean’s soul, which he had offered to the demon to save Sam. In the final moments, we see Dean struggling against his captive state in hell, screaming his brother’s name.
1. Lucifer Rising
All hail the best of the best episodes of ‘Supernatural’.
Episode 22 of season 4 reserved the show’s spot among the best finales of television. The episode provides answers and poses exciting questions for the Winchester brothers. Everything comes to a full circle as we get the answers to the motive of Ruby behind training Sam, the fate of Lilith, and the involvement of the brothers in the impending apocalypse.
