The pandemic has been a bad sign for a lot of things except for ‘Supernatural’ fans, who could possibly see a Season 16 because of the delay in filming and production.
No audience looks forward to their favourite show ending. So, it was clear that fans did not like the idea of ‘Supernatural’ coming to an end after 15 seasons of outstanding performances and a hell of a great story for the monster-hunting Winchester brothers.

Discussing all things ‘Supernatural’!
‘Supernatural’ is a dark American fantasy television series created by Erik Kripke. The show made its debut in September 2005, on The WB, and soon became a part of its successor The CW’s lineup. Its been signed for 15 seasons so far and all of them have been widely famous with its audience. The show-stopped filming in the middle of season 15 due to the pandemic, causing hope for everyone to possibly see a season 16 of ‘Supernatural’.
So what makes ‘Supernatural’ so widely popular? The show is a wonderful blend of myth, folklore, religion, and the paranormal. But, somehow, even with involving so many tales, character plots, and angles, the storyline is brilliant and so are the actors who have perfected their character and continue to evolve with the story.
What some people have disapproved of is the slight religious angle that comes in when the plot focuses on demons and angels. But to many other fans, it only seemed like a level up from the average paranormal activity. Part of the list of longest-running drama series, the show’s lead characters Sam Winchester (played by Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (played by Jensen Ackles) go to battle with many demons, resulting in them dying multiple times, spending years together in hell, losing people they love. But, not everything on the show is bad news, through their profession as monster hunters, they also save people, prevent apocalypses, visit alternate dimensions, and even glimpse into their lives if they aren’t hunting monsters.
While some fans thought the show dragged on endlessly, others kept the show ratings up, leading to more seasons of the show. However, like all good things, the creators also wanted to end the show with season 15.
The first last season of ‘Supernatural’ and COVID safety!
‘Supernatural’ Season 15 was announced as the final season, ending the successful 15-year streak. But it was halted midway due to Covid-19. However, the team finally decided to resume shooting in August. The whole team spoke to “Variety” about their COVID safety measures and the productivity of the team. Jared Padalecki said,
“It would have been shutting down production and putting people out of work again, so everybody was more careful than they were required. We all felt the importance. We weren’t going out on weekends”.
His co-star Jensen Ackles also agreed, “Everybody was taking it very seriously. I would say being on set was safer than going home to my apartment because everybody’s getting tested, everybody was healthy and was checked on such a frequent basis, you knew that there was nobody carrying the disease”.
Will there be a season 16 of ‘Supernatural’?
The creators already declared that season 15 would be the end of the series. However, The CW network never actually cancelled the series. Although they did not renew it either, leaving fans with hope that maybe there could be something more.
However, the fans are not the only ones hinting at another season; some of the cast have also been hinting at a new season with hope. When the cast was interviewed for the show’s farewell panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Jensen Ackles said,
“It’s a long run that I don’t think is ever going to be completed. I think we’re just going to be absent for a while. For how long, I don’t know. I’m not even able to close doors or burn bridges. I think that isn’t very smart. Am I assuming there’s something in the commitment? No. Am I open to having a talk in the future? What’s the harm in that?”
So maybe we’ll hold on to that hope and see what comes out of ‘Supernatural’.
