After ruling television for 15 years, ‘Supernatural’ is one of the longest-running dark fantasy television series of all time. The show follows Sam and Dean Winchester on their hunting trips as they drive around in their vintage Chevy Impala. The show has quite an intense storyline: two brothers hunting for ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural creatures.
But there’s more to it than its story, and that is its titular characters. Fans often credit the show’s success to Jared Padalecki’s (Sam) flowing locks of hair and Jensen Ackles’ (Dean) badass attitude. ‘Supernatural’ is on a hiatus since March owing to production delays caused by the pandemic and will air next year. But with the break-in filming, fans are excited to see how the writers will entertain them with another season!
The rest of ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 will grace our screens in late 2020
Sam and Dean have died many times, been resurrected many times, and have defeated several powerful beings in their world. Fans have seen them save the world, prevent apocalypses from happening and go to hell and back, quite literally. They took it a bit too far in the last season though. Waging a war against God himself can’t be all that easy!
Now demons, vampires, and werewolves are no match for the Winchester brothers. But what about the being that created them all? It’ll be interesting to see how Sam and Dean tackle this conflict and whether they survive it.
The final season, consisting of 20 episodes, is to bring the saga to an end. So far, 13 episodes have aired and the team has filmed a total of 18 but post-production has stopped. Further, work on the series has been slow because of the pandemic-imposed shutdown of the sound and visual effect teams.
“Deadline” had reported that ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 was to resume filming in late July this year. If the filming schedule went as planned, the final chapters in Sam and Dean’s story could return later this year! We’re still waiting for official news from the showrunners and the network on the release date of ‘Supernatural’ Season 15.
The ‘Supernatural’ cast reunited during the pandemic for a special surprise
No, really – they did reunite to bring something special to ‘Supernatural’ fans. The entire ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 cast including Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins (Castiel) virtually reunited on Zoom!
They might not have any spoilers or news about season 15, but they did have something fun to sing about. The ‘Supernatural’ cast came together to sing the one song that follows the Winchester boys wherever they go!
Padalecki, Ackles, and Misha performed a sing-along version of ‘Carry on Wayward Son’, with a digital campfire in the background. The song is the show’s unofficial anthem, and the trio was joined by members of the band ‘Kansas’ too! Apart from the singing, the 20-minute chat saw the cast talk about summer, ‘70s rock band trivia, and Zoom backgrounds.
It was a real treat for fans to see them together again, even though they weren’t exactly together.
What we know about ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 so far
The Winchester brother’s epic, 15-year old journey came to a close as the series entered its final season. Sam and Dean have fought the toughest and most powerful monsters ever, all in a quest to save the world.
But as the season 14 cliffhanger saw, the brothers managed to wage a war with God (Rob Benedict) himself. Sam, Dean, and Castiel refuse to kill Jack (Alexander Calvert), the Nephilim boy they had previously taken in. Their decision to go against God angers him. He kills Jack and unleashes the gates of Hell on Earth and Sam and Dean, by freeing several evil souls.
Sam and Dean’s fate now literally rests in God’s hands and we’re curious to see them navigate through it! In an interview with “EW”, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins subtly hinted at Chuck/God’s plans in ‘Supernatural’ Season 15.
“This is, as far as we know, the most powerful being in the universe, and he’s against us”, says Collins. Padalecki added, “But we’re also struggling with: Is Chuck evil, or is he just trying to objectively write a story that’s exciting which controls our lives?”
We’ll have to wait a while to see if Sam and Dean will break free and live out their lives. God aka Chuck’s plans are questionable but maybe there’s a reason behind it all? Until then, we’re going to watch the last season again and predict the epic finale!
