However, some good always lies in a lot of bad. What might that good be? Let’s find out!
Why ‘Supernatural’ went on a hiatus?
On March 23rd, 2020, the 13th episode of ‘Supernatural’s’ 15th season was aired, which showrunner Andrew Dabb declared as the show’s last episode “for a while”. As reported on “Worldtoptrend”, Dabb announced, “We’ve filmed until episode 18, but since our visual effects and sound departments have closed due to the outbreak, the remaining episodes cannot be aired”.

When asked whether the show will be back for a conclusion, he said, “Yes, we, the CW, and Warner Bros, fully intend to return and finish the collection. So, it is not an issue of ‘if’, it is a matter of ‘when'”. So there you have it, guys. While the abrupt ending is surely disappointing, the delay does have a brighter side, and might as well be a blessing in disguise. How? Read on.

Fans will be treated with a ‘bonus’ season with a better plot!
As it turns out, the network and the showrunners are not only planning to release the remaining episodes, there is a big chance that ‘Supernatural’ will be back with a whole new season! Generally, each season consists of 20 episodes. Since season 15 ended with only 13 episodes and the network has promised to do justice by the show, fans might actually get 13 extra episodes in season 16, along with 7 from season 15.
Also, as episode scripts are normally often finished in a single week, the writers and producers now have multiple months to tweak and improve the script for the remainder of 7 episodes. They possibly can even incorporate fans’ feedback, which is almost impossible in the fast-paced schedule of TV seasons.
When will season 16 go on air?
“Deadline” reported that team ‘Supernatural’ is hoping to resume filming in late July, having an eye on broadcasting during The CW’s autumn schedule. Albeit seeing the current situation, it is safe to presume that the remaining episodes of ‘Supernatural’ will hopefully be coming in spring 2021. However, no date has been officially announced by The CW about the new season.
We’ll keep our ears open for the latest updates on this, until then, you can enjoy a rerun of all the seasons on Amazon Prime. Also, let us know your thoughts on what season 16 could be about in the comments box below.
