Robert Pattinson answered if Superman will appear in ‘The Batman’
‘The Batman’ will follow Bruce as he confronts villains Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin, and The Riddler, all while determining Selina’s trustworthiness.
When Warner Brothers announced the film, fans immediately began asking when they would see other DC characters. With a plethora of potential characters for the franchise to introduce, Superman would undoubtedly be the most prominent. Warner Bros. has not stated yet whether or not Superman will appear in ‘The Batman’ franchise.
In a new interview with ComicBook, Pattinson discussed the possibility of seeing prominent DC characters such as Superman in future sequels. Despite having discussed the possibility of incorporating fantastical elements into Reeves’ universe, ‘The Batman’ will take a more grounded approach, similar to Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.
Even though Pattinson does not rule out the possibility of bringing in other superheroes and stated that he enjoyed the idea of figuring out how to make it happen. They have been talking about how to get the fantastical elements because Matt’s world, his perspective on it, is so grounded, and he is thinking, ‘How can you add?’
“Like, we were talking the other day, like, ‘Can you add Superman into it, but he just does not have any powers? He is just a guy in a cape'”, Pattinson said. “He is just like, ‘I am Superman!’ And they are like, ‘So’?”
Do set photos actually revealed Superman’s location in ‘The Batman’ movie?
Despite Pattinson’s comments that it would be difficult to include Superman, set photos from ‘The Batman’ revealed a scene getting shot with Superman and Wonder Woman. However, DKODING is unsure whether Superman exists as an actual superhero in Pattinson’s Batman universe or if he is just an extra.
Since these Superman movies exist in the universe, the extra’s outfit could be a Halloween costume modelled after Reeve’s movie costume. It could be a Halloween costume based on an actual superhero from ‘The Batman’.
Does Superman exist in Reeve’s world of Batman?
Director Matt Reeves recently got asked by Collider if Superman existed in his Bat-Verse or, if not, how he could get introduced. Reeves went on to say that his approach to ‘The Batman’ was to be as grounded as possible by focusing on only one fantastical element to have everything else revolve around so that it could feel emotionally real and very believable. The introduction of an alien-like Superman, according to the director, would be a shock to that universe.
The only way he could possibly pull off something like that would be to change the one fantastical element to be about the introduction of Superman, rather than simply having him appear in this practical, believable version of Batman. If the opportunity arises, Reeves mentioned that he would approach it through the same lens as ‘The Batman’.
Matt Reeves‘ approach to introducing Superman into ‘The Batman’ is similar to Zack Snyder’s, which treated Kal-El’s arrival as an alien invasion that changed everything, rather than simply ushering the character in without explanation. As a result, DKODING is certain that a Superman in Reeves’ Bat-Verse is entirely possible. But the director appears to be more interested in the other parts of Batman’s world, particularly Gotham City.
In addition to Robert Pattinson as the Batman, ‘The Batman’ also stars Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. The movie released on the 4th of March 2022. Stay updated with DKODING on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
