What can fans expect from season 4 of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’?
As most of the fans of ‘Star Trek: Discovery‘ already know, the show takes us back 10 years prior to the events of the classic Star Trek series that ran from 1966 to 1969. It brings us on board the spaceship of USS Discovery during the 2250s. The 4th season was announced by co-showrunner Michelle Paradise on her official Twitter page. She also added that the entire script for the 4th season of the show was written while the lockdown was in full effect and writers were forced to work remotely. As for the plot of the 4th season, official sources have stated nothing regarding it as the third season is still going on right now. In this season, the crew of USS Discovery are tasked with rebuilding the galaxy back together after it was ripped apart by the disastrous event known as ‘The Burn‘.

What has happened on the show so far?
The show begins right around the time of the Federation-Klingon wars in which USS Discovery proved to be extremely critical with Discovery’s experimental spore displacement hub drive which basically allows it to teleport anywhere it wants in the known universe. This same technology takes the crew to a mirror universe where they learn that their captain, Lorca, was an imposter and was trying to kill Emperor Phillipa Georgiou. The crew manages to foil Lorca’s plan and also puts an end to the Klingon wars by establishing a new Klingon High Chancellor. The first season ends with the crew receiving a distress call from USS Enterprise.
The signals were sent by Kirk’s predecessor Captain Pike. Pike becomes the new captain of USS Discovery and takes the spaceship on a quest to investigate the “red angel signals” and to locate Spock, who turns out to be Michael Burnham’s adoptive brother. Towards the end of the second season, the crew decides that Discovery’s sphere data is crucial to saving all life forms from the evil entity known as Control and so they destroy the ship. The story is continued in the third season which is streaming right now on CBS All Access as well as Netflix.
When will the fourth season drop?
The release date for the fourth season has not been confirmed yet; neither has a trailer or a teaser dropped for it yet by CBS or Netflix. The third season finished filming in February this year and dropped in mid-October so it seems that the fourth season will stream sometime in the latter half of 2021.
