The Office star Leslie David Baker, aka Dunder Mifflin’s resident grump and salesman, is set to bring back the show in The Office spin-Off series that will feature his character.
Stanley Hudson (Leslie David Baker) expressed his no-nonsense attitude ever since the first season of the hit sitcom series. A true king of sarcasm and master of the eye-roll, Stanley is Dunder Mifflin’s resident grump and salesman who seems to know everything, but cares for nothing. This crossword-loving, pretzel-eating salesman is finally making a comeback in The Office spin-off series to laugh, and make you laugh all over again.
Highlights —
- The Uncle Stan Show will be entirely crowdfunded
- The announcement comes after creator Greg Daniels shut down all revival rumours
- The original cast might make an appearance on The Office spin-off
Leslie’s new project is a part of The Office universe, and is titled The Uncle Stan Show. The show will see his character move to California, after a comfortable retirement in Florida that included carving wood, enjoying white-sand beaches and dancing to old disco. He makes the move from the East coast on account of his nephew, Lucky’s call for help.
It will be fun to see Uncle Stan get accustomed to the Californian lifestyle but as the show’s description suggests, it won’t be very long before he realises that leaving behind a life of comfort and moving to California wasn’t the best decision to make. Uncle Stan must now deal with his widower nephew’s two children, their personal vendettas, rivalries, and if that wasn’t enough, he has to learn to live like a Californian.
As expected, fans have several questions about The Office spin-off, which is an unofficial extension of The Office universe. Let’s see what we know so far…
The Uncle Stan Show will be entirely crowdfunded
There hasn’t been a word of congrats from NBC on the happy announcement, so we’re assuming that the network will not be backing this one. Perhaps that is why, Leslie decided to bring the series to life via Kickstarter – a global crowdfunding website that campaigns for creativity. He’s leaving it to you — The Office fans to help him reach his target, while offering some incredible perks that come along with it!
Leslie has just one month to reach his target and raise $300,000 or the project will go unfunded. You can help by funding as little as $1 which will provide you with regular email updates on the show and a special thanks on their website, though a whopping $7,500 will land you a walk-in speaking role on The Office spin off series, a thank you credit at the end of the show, a special thanks video message from the cast and Leslie himself with several other perks included! Incredible, isn’t it?

Long Story Short, This Is Why You Did Not Get A 4-Hour Long The Office Finale
The announcement comes after creator Greg Daniels shut down all revival rumours
While it is quite surprising to see a member of the cast take matters in their own hands, The Office spin-off announcement came in after Greg Daniels, the series’ creator shut down all rumours of a revival, in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I think when all these rumours started to fly around, it was when they rebooted Will and Grace, and I think people were assuming that an Office reboot would be pretty much like that – it would be getting the entire cast back together and just continuing where we left off.”

Daniels continued, “But you know, I went back to run the show in season 9 after discussing it with the main cast and part of our idea was we were gonna wrap it up, you know? We were going to write towards the finale and have an ending, and so a lot of the characters left the office and we went forward by a year, we found out where everybody was.”
Daniels also confessed that bringing the entire cast back together would be unrealistic, as most of the cast are huge stars today. But a reunion didn’t seem unrealistic for John Krasinki (who played Jim Halpert in The Office), when he brought back the entire cast for a special reunion hosted on Zoom earlier this year. To the excitement of fans, the cast even recreated Jim and Pam’s impromptu wedding dance from 2008!
The original cast might make an appearance on The Office spin-off
If the funding target is met, Leslie’s team will have the chance of working on a half-hour pilot episode that could get picked up by NBC or another network, you never know!
Leslie’s appearance on The Office as Stanley earned him a massive fanbase, which has already funded $140,000 towards the show. The Uncle Stan Show’s crowdfunding page also mentions that cast members from The Office will be invited to make guest appearances on the spin-off series!
For now, the only confirmed cast member of The Office spin-off series is Leslie, who will play Uncle Stan, while the casting for the rest is on-going. What if we have John Krasinki, Steve Carell and Jenna Fischer join in? Well, only time will tell if The Office spin-off will see the light of day, as the funding target is yet to be achieved.
We can’t wait to see if any of Leslie’s former colleagues will join him, but which member of The Office are you most excited to see join the show? Let us know in the comments.
