Show creator Kurt Sutter drops hint on cult-favourite ‘Sons of Anarchy’s’ upcoming sequel, while Charlie Hunnam confirms he will not be a part of it anymore.
Almost 6 years after the cult American motorbike club crime series ‘Sons of Anarchy’, the show makers have finally dropped a hint that a sequel might be coming soon for ‘Sons of Anarchy’. However, this new season will not include fans’ beloved Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller. Before this, a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ prequel had also been released as part of the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology.

- When will the spinoffs air?
‘Sons of Anarchy’ ran from 2008 to 2014 with 7 seasons. The series ended with Jax’s epic suicide, like his dad, John, where he drove his motorcycle straight into an oncoming truck with a big smile on his face.
Although the show makers concluded the 7 season-series, fans believed that there is more to the story. Kurt Sutter also hinted that the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology was imagined by him to include 4 shows.
Show maker Kurt Sutter hinted at 2 new spinoff shows
Yes! Through a Facebook post, fans questioned Sutter, “How will Abel’s destiny play out in your mind?” To this, Sutter replied saying, “I had this revelation between ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Mayans MC’, that the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology will be a pack of four different yet interconnected shows”.

“‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Mayans MC’, ‘First Nine’, and ‘Sam Crow’; where ‘First Nine’ would be a nine-episode series depicting the story of the sons before Jax’s reign, and ‘Sam Crow’ would tell the fate of Abel, Wendi, Nero, and Thomas”.
What does Charlie Hunnam think about returning?
While talking to “Entertainment Tonight” promoting his film ‘Papillon’, Charlie Hunnam was asked if we would see Jax Teller in flashbacks in the sequel show. Hunnam, with conviction, said, “No, No, I had the deepest experience of my career coming out of that.

“That character became so deeply integrated into who I was, I didn’t realize when we wrapped and we put him to rest. It took me two or three weeks to realize that. He’s not with us anymore. And I would never bring him back from the dead.”
When will the spinoffs air?
The likelihood of ‘First Nine’ and ‘Sam Crow’ coming out in 2020 is slim to none considering the coronavirus pandemic. According to a post by “Mirror UK”, Sutter said, “Currently I can’t discuss the situation with Fox. So, I can’t comment on the broadcasting of the shows right now”. We can keep our hopes up that the sequel and prequel might come out in 2021 and 2022.
Until then, you can enjoy chapter 2 of the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology, ‘Mayans MC’ (the story of ‘Sons of Anarchy’s’ rival gang) on FX now and Hulu. Or, you can binge on 7 seasons of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ on Netflix.

What’s wrong with Jax Teller’s leg?
He simply appeared with a limp one day and we were forced to accept it and move on with our lives. If you haven’t been able to move on because you spend your days wondering how Jax got his limp, the answer is quite simple. Charlie Hunnam, who played Jax Teller, broke his foot one day, thus causing him to walk with a limp.
