We had no idea that the creators of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ were planning a sequel for us, which will revolve around Jax’s son, Abel.
Yes! We too can’t contain our excitement to post this news. It’s been over a half-decade since fans have been living in the void and missing their favourite motorcycle club. Though the SOA universe saw a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ prequel series named Mayans M.C., what happened to the SOA club is what they want to see. This wish might now get fulfilled with the Sons of Anarchy spin-off with Abel in plans.
Highlights:
- ‘Sons of Anarchy’ to have a spin-off around Abel.
- A sequel to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is not possible.
- Fans are dying for a Sons of Anarchy sequel.
Kurt Sutter’s ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is a cult American action crime drama series revolving around a motorcycle club. The club and the show are based in a fictional town in California, named Charming.
The show had a magnificent run of 7 seasons, starting from September 2008, and concluding with a finale in December 2014. Though the show catered a satisfying ending to the fans, still some untied threads, or a cliff-hanger (to be precise), left the end open for further sequel shows. The universe also saw a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ prequel. Is it now time for a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spin-off around Abel.
‘Sons of Anarchy’ to have a spin-off knitted around Abel.
In the latest Q&A on Facebook, the creator of Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, revealed that he has a sequel show for Abel in mind. As per his revelation, the show might revolve around Abel, the son of Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam). And the chances of old club members returning are high.
As a fan asked Sutter on Facebook, “How in your mind, will Abel’s destiny play out?”
Sutter shared the answer to this question on Twiter. He explained his plans for the SOA universe. As per those plans, Sutter is willing to create 4-show mythology for SOA, one of which, Mayans M.C., is already out there.
Sutter revealed: “I had this realization between SOA and Mayans. That the SOA mythology would be four shows.”
“Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., First Nine and Sam Crow.”
He explained the shows’ premise further.
“First Nine would be a limited series. Nine episodes. It would end before we began to tread on the history we created in Sons. Sam Crow would be the fate of Wendi, Nero, Abel and Thomas.”
A sequel to ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is not possible.
Even though Sutter has multiple Sons of Anarchy follow-up shows in mind, but any sequel, including the one about Abel, won’t be possible. Kurt Sutter from ‘Sons of Anarchy’, who created the franchise, is no more a part of it as Disney fired him from the spin-off, Mayans M.C., last year. The ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology, created by him, may not get the chance to play out, as such.
Thus, Sutter continued in his tweet by stating, “I can’t discuss my current situation with Fox, so right now I can’t comment on the reality of any of this happening.”

However, even though the possibilities are extremely low for the club to return, Sutter is hopeful for it. As per a report from Pop Culture, while admitting the low probability of Sam Crow show, Sutter has still shown some faith in it.
Sutter shared: “At this time, the prospects are not looking great, I don’t own the Sons of Anarchy IP, Fox/Disney does. But I never say never.”
Fans are dying for a Sons of Anarchy follow-up show.
After the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ prequel, keeping all the possibilities and probabilities aside, fans just want a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Abel spin-off sequel.
As soon as Sutter revealed his fantasies regarding the show, and his follow-up shows around the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ mythology, fans began tweeting their excitement for it.
@pinny13 tweeted (begged): “Please please please, oh and did I mention please.”
Another user praised how dark SOA became towards the finale season and hoped if they could get a sequel around Abel.

Why was ‘Sons of Anarchy’ cancelled?
It wasn’t that the show was cancelled. The show makers had always envisioned the show as a seven season series, and the show ended when its conclusion was reached.
