With rocketing high prices that are not ceasing to take the ladder up, Twitteratis are onto trolling the Indian ‘Textile’ and ‘Women and Child Development’ minister. In fact, there is a particular tweet from Smriti Irani’s past that is making her vulnerable to high onion price trolls.

It is yet again that time when current onion prices soar high and the common man uses the one tool that is at their disposal: trolls. Reports from all over India are proof of how ‘Syn-propanethial-S-oxide’ is not the only thing in onions that is making people teary-eyed; their prices are too. And these tears are the source of all the trolls that are targetting Smriti Irani currently.
Back in Time
In 2010, when the the-then current onion prices were high, many celebrities and the-then opposition ministers took to Twitter to troll uncontrollably. One of these Twitterati was Smriti Irani. On 23 December 2010, Smriti Irani trolled the Congress government saying, “Income Tax dept is keeping a watch on all high value transactions… Don’t buy onions :-)”
Now that the current onion prices are soaring again, Smriti Irani’s 2010 tweet has left her vulnerable to trolls. Aggrieved citizens are asking the Indian Minister to check the onion prices. Not only this but given the fact that she in power now, people are wondering why she is not vocal about the problems of the common man.
Not only Smriti Irani but there are many other celebrities who are not speaking against the current onion price hikes with the enthusiasm that they showed in 2010.
