Netflix’s The Witcher showrunner has confirmed that the heartaches aren’t going to end for The Witcher’s Geralt, Yennefer, and their fans.

Now before you go into your brooding state, let us tell you what she said and what those heartbreaks might be for.
What will happen to Geralt and Yennefer in Netflix’s The Witcher?
To the fans who are dreaming of a ‘happily ever after’ for Geralt and Yennefer in Netflix’s The Witcher, you need to stop right there.
On a recent 3rd & Fairfax: The WGAW Podcast, the showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has revealed her plans on how she is going to treat the relationship of Geralt and Yennefer, and her plans hint at a heartbreak for the fans.
Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg are one of the key characters in The Witcher. Much of the show revolves around them, and their prolonged life span allows the show to go back and forth in the time and enjoy some interesting storylines.
However, the recent revelation by Hissrich on keeping the show close to the novel it’s based on, by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, hints at the possible ifs and buts for the future of both the characters.

“One person could be dead” – says Lauren.
In the recent podcast, while discussing The Witcher show on Netflix and the character of Geralt and Yennefer, Lauren has revealed the makers’ approach towards their relationship.
Lauren explained that though the show has deviated from the novel in several ways, she aims at keeping the relationship between Geralt and Yennefer very much true to the Novel. She explained how their unnatural life spans mold their views about the relationship, and how the writers are keeping note of it.
“Time is a very different thing for [them], so [they’re] not going to go get married and settle down and have kids. They have short bursts of either sexual relationships or… flirtations that they may sort of come back and visit that person, but by the time they come back, that person could be dead.”
We sure know that Lauren isn’t claiming that one of them will die, but she has hinted at the possibility, and a possibility is enough for the fans to brood over it.
No ‘happily ever after’ for Geralt and Yennefer in Netflix’s The Witcher.
Netflix’s The Witcher showrunner explained that Geralt and Yennefer might be in love for the time being, but it won’t continue for long.
As per her, these people can’t settle for married life. They are always on the edge of life and death, and so, family planning isn’t a very wise choice.
“What I like to imagine is that Yennefer and Geralt are both used to doing it one way; they’re both sort of perpetual bachelors.
“Geralt and Yennefer are really like pinballs off of each other in a way… Even in the books, I don’t know that there’s really a happily ever after for them. It’s such a sweet dream, but it’s so unrealistic.
“These people are never going to be sheep farmers and basket weavers. They both have this sort of desire to live on this edge of life and death.”
While the fans are waiting for Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2, Lauren’s revelation might break their hopes to see more love between Geralt and Yennefer.
