The vampire slayer has been handed the trump card! Actor Sarah Michelle Geller had a tough struggle in making a choice between season 13 of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ reboot.
The Scooby Gang has been an integral part of the ‘90s kids’ childhood and the news of its anticipated comeback made its loyal fans ecstatic. Buffy Summers made an unexpected appearance in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 12 finale as the creators decided to surprise the fans with a ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ crossover. This left us wondering if she would come back for the next season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as well as for the ‘Buffy’ reboot. Turns out, Sarah Michelle Geller had a tough choice to make.

Buffy Summers was the Badass Vampire Slayer
Sarah Michelle Geller starred as the badass vampire slayer in the late ‘90s hit show, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. Written and directed by Joss Wheadon, the show immediately earned its fame as the audience lost themselves in the fantasy world of Buffy’s adventures. The show followed the many adventures of the vampire slayer, Buffy Summers, and her gang as they defended Sunnydale from dark forces, demons and vampires. The show ran for seven thrilling seasons never falling short of entertainment. Based on the 1992 film of the same name, this American fantasy horror show marked its territory in the TV industry with its wide fan-base and was later brought into the comic book form.
Two years ago, a reboot for ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ was announced with Monica Owusu-Breen as both the executive producer and writer. On the show’s 20th anniversary, Monica Owusu-Breen wrote on “Twitter”, “For some genre writers it’s Star Wars. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my Star Wars. Before I became a writer, I was a fan. For seven seasons, I watched Buffy Summers grow up, find love, kill that love. I watched her fight and struggle and slay. There is only one Buffy. One Xander, one Willow, Giles, Cordelia, Oz, Tara, Kendra, Faith, Spike, Angel. They can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon’s brilliant and beautiful series can’t be replicated.”
The reboot of ‘Buffy’ is still in the making and Sarah Michelle Geller had a tough choice before her on whether to aboard or abort the mission.
Raj Koothrappali Dating Buffy Summers
Imagine the timid and shy Raj Koothrappali dating the bold and badass Buffy Summers. It would be wild, right? Well, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ creators took that wild dream and turned it into reality. The two-part finale episode of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ finds Sarah Michelle Geller as the date for Raj Koothrappali. Bazinga! You didn’t see that coming, did you? The final episode shows Raj stumbling upon Sarah, who of course, plays herself, on a flight to Stockholm. The unexpected twist comes as we see Raj bringing Sarah as a date to Sheldon and Amy’s Noble Prize ceremony.

After all those nights of Dungeons and Dragons with the nerds, Sarah Michelle Geller was the perfect twist for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ ending. Steve Holland, the executive producer of the show, told “Entertainment Weekly”, “It was Chuck Lorre’s idea to find a fun moment for Raj, so she could be next to him in the plane. It felt like a really fun get…A lot of the writers are huge Buffy fans. It felt like a nerdier [choice] than going for whoever is the flashiest movie star.”
Now that we know that Raj is dating Buffy, the question is if we will see her in the next season. As for Sarah Michelle Geller, she needed to pick between ‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 13 and the ‘Buffy’ reboot, which we won’t lie, wasn’t a tough choice to make.
Sarah Michelle Geller Torn between ‘TBBT’ and ‘Buffy’
It is easier to say that we would like Sarah to return as both Buffy and Raj’s girlfriend. However, season 13 for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is not a reality for now. As for ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, Sarah would not like to return for the reboot. She said, “I’m not an adolescent anymore. I’m all for them rebooting it. I think it’s an important story. I think there’s a way to modernize it and tell a different story now.”
Sarah Michelle Geller might not want to return as Buffy Summers, but for all it’s worth, we know it would have been a tough choice if she had to pick between ‘TBBT’ and the ‘Buffy’ reboot.
