The Sherlock Holmes TV series has been a big hit among fans since it’s debut in 1984. The original series lasted for four seasons and it was quite evident that fans wanted more. Thereafter came along various adaptations presented as TV series and movies. Currently there are 49 movies and TV series with the Sherlock Holmes theme.
Sherlock Holmes 3 which is believed to be released in 2021, will mark the 50th installment of the mega set. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as the famous detective, the threequel could be the last of the Sherlock Holmes series.

Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Rachel McAdams in the lead among many others, has created a fan base unlike any other. The first part of the movie was released in 2009 and received a 7.6/10 rating on IMDb.
The story revolved around Detective Holmes and his partner-in-investigation, Dr. Watson who together send Blackwood, a serial killer to the gallows. However, the epic crime battle begins when they learn that Blackwood is back from the dead. Here begins their part to pursue him again.
The second installment titled ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’, was released in 2011 with the same stars in lead as there were in the first movie. While the movie received a 7.5/10 rating from IMDb, the sequel was well praised by fans and critics.
As Sherlock Holmes continues to investigate a series of murders with his associate Dr. Watson, he is led to the evil doings of Professor Moriarty. Together, they put an end to all his evil plans.

In May 2018, Warner Bros, confirmed with fans that there will be a threequel to the famous series. The original release date was 25 December 2020, but was pushed forward to 21 December 2021. While the plot to the new movie is a mystery, there are speculations that Jarred Harris might return as evil mastermind, Professor Moriarty.
