DC fans (including on-screen superheroes) have started a movement that has spread all over the globe like wildfire. They are asking to ‘Release The Snyder Cut’ version of the ‘Justice League’. What is this version all about and will it ever see the light of the day?

If you have recently been to Twitter, you must have seen ‘Release The Snyder Cut’ trending globally. The trend went so far that everyone assumed Warner Bros would actually be pressurised to release the fabled Snyder Cut version. But alas, no such thing happened. Let’s find out what if The Snyder Cut of ‘Justice League’ will ever see the light of the day.
Release The Snyder Cut goes viral on the second anniversary of Justice League’s November release
But first things first.
Does the Snyder Cut really exist?
Yes. Despite it being framed as an illusional version of the DC movie, the Snyder Cut does exist. Warner Bros, though, never confirmed that such a version ever existed. Director Zack Snyder had to take leave mid-way into the project due to his daughter Autumn Snyder’s death. So, the baton was handed over to another director- Joss Whedon. While Warner Bros claims that the Justice League version we all saw is “80, 85 percent” of Snyder’s work, that might not be the actual truth.
Snyder’s version run 3.5 hours but was cut short, reworked and reshot to 2 hours. And here is the proof of its existence
Snyder himself keeps posting loads of behind-the-scene shots and concept arts to a social media platform, Vero. But a much stronger proof comes from the actor who played Aquaman. In August, Jason Momoa claimed that he has seen the Snyder cut and it is ” ssssiiicccckkkkkk” (he is also one of the actors demanding the release).
Demanding the long lost version of DC Superheroes
The enthusiasm of Snyder zealots is strange, compelling, and downright commendable. But more than all that, it is being supported by actors and (drumroll…) Marvel. (The word ‘Marvel’ supposedly adds more weight in support than anything else, given the DC and Marvel cold-war, doesn’t it?)
The ‘Release The Snyder Cut’ trend caught fire when Wonder Woman decided to join in. Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) too demanded the release of The Snyder Cut.
Not only this, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, and Joe Manganiello too pitched in their support leaving fans roaring with enthusiasm.
Others too came forward to pitch in their support and make the ‘Release The Synder Cut’ movement a massive one. These included former president of DC Entertainment Diane Nelson, screenwriter Damon Lindelof, filmmaker Scott Derrickson, and these are just a handful among many others.
But will The Snyder Cut ever release?
The near-future answer is a disheartening ‘no’. As Zack Snyder stepped down, his work was left incomplete with unfinished visual effects. Even the audio had not been mixed up. While die-hard fans are longing for a three-and-a-half-hour long of the likes of Snyder-directed ‘Man of Steel’ or ‘Dawn of Justice’; they might not like an undercooked version. (Would you?)
And given the fact that the version is still in pieces, it is not in the near future that Warner Bros would want to spend any extra bucks to provide the finishing touch-ups. (Especially after the fact that the Whedon Cut of Justice League earned a disappointing figure of $657.9 million globally.)
Is there any hope at all?
With the high demands of ‘Release The Synder Cut’ version, it might find home with HBO’s streaming service that is going to release in 2020. It would boost up the streaming service that has been a platform to major successful shows like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Friends’.
We do hope there is hope.
