- Rajesh Koothrapalli : The Indian connect
- Will Raj finally get his happy ending with Emily?
During its span of 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019, the series gained a widespread fandom around the world and was lauded by critics for its intelligent comedy and taut writing. The award-winning series was so popular that it even spawned a very popular spin-off, Young Sheldon. The series showed all the actors ending up married, except Raj. So, will there be a season 13 to give Raj his happy ending?
The Big Bang Theory: The undisputed star of intelligent comedies
The Big Bang Theory proved to be the perfect blend of science and comedy and is one of the few shows that saw a constant increase in viewership over the years. The series followed four socially awkward men of science — Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Rajesh Koothrapalli (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) — whose lives changed after they met Penny, Cooper and Hofstadter’s pretty neighbour. The series eventually introduced Sheldon’s romantic interest, Amy (Mayim Bialik) along with Howard’s future wife, Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), completing the beloved cast.

The series found its humour in the evolution of its male characters, who started out as incredibly socially awkward with no chance of ever dating a girl, to more mature men who ultimately found their other halves. Their dynamics with the female characters are both funny and adorable.
The character of Rajesh was the only one who did not end up getting married. So, will CBS consider making another season to give Rajesh his own happy ending?
Rajesh Koothrapalli: The Indian connect
Rajesh Koothrapalli was an awkward character right from the start. A particle astrophysicist from New Delhi, Rajesh had rich parents on whom he relied financially throughout the series. He suffered from situation mutism that prevented him from being able to talk to women unless he was under the influence of alcohol.
Over the seasons Raj was involved with multiple women all the way from childhood friend, Lalita Gupta to Anu (Rati Gupta), but probably the most memorable relationship of his was the one he had with Emily Sweeney (Laura Spencer), a dermatologist he found on the internet. The relationship lasted between the seventh and ninth season, ending in Raj breaking up with Emily. Fans were not happy about the break-up as everyone thought that the two characters were great for each other.
In the final episode Raj was showed to have broken up with Anu and heading to the Nobel Prize ceremony with Sarah Michelle Gellar who insisted that they weren’t on a date.

Will Raj finally get his happy ending with Emily?
Raj broke up with Emily when he developed an interest in a bartender named Claire. But when Claire went back to her ex-boyfriend, a heartbroken Raj begged Emily to take him back, which she refused. Emily eventually decided to stay friends with him but that didn’t last long either.
Emily made her final appearance in season 10 episode 14, “The Emotion Detection Automation”, in which Raj invited all his ex-girlfriends to ask them why they broke up with him. In the episode Emily revealed that she was dating a new guy named Gary and was really happy.
It doesn’t seem like Raj will get a happy ending with Emily. But if the show-runners do decide to reboot the series for a season 13, it is most likely that Raj will get a new partner and considering how in the final season Raj longed for a stable relationship, he might finally find ‘the one’.
