R. Kelly who was charged with 18 serious counts of sexual crimes including child p*rnography, has been denied bail

This hearing’s purpose was to determine whether the singer was to be released from custody. Undoubtedly, prosecutors argued that he must not be given bail as “the defendant can entice girls to his own doorstep, he doesn’t have to leave his home to do that.”
An assistant US attorney explained to the judge, “This risk of obstruction is real. This risk is ongoing. This risk is heightened by the defendant’s fame and power”. Furthermore, he added that the singer “has a unique ability to influence and intimidate witnesses and victims, and that continues to this day.”
To summarize, the prosecutors argued that home confinement and electronic monitoring could never be sufficient in this case in accordance with the charges that R. Kelly is facing.
But his Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, argued in a lighthearted tone that he could flee. Furthermore, he pointed out that the only money he could earn was from the concerts that are no longer in the picture. And hence, according to Greenberg, Kelly could not influence anyone on the outside. Also, he pointed out that there is no evidence to prove him guilty. And until then he must be “held in a humane situation.”
What the future holds for R. Kelly
If the singer is found guilty, the 52-year-old could end up with a minimum of 15 years behind the bars. Moreover, this could extend up to a maximum of 195 years in prison! Only if he had that many years at hand.
