Priyanka Gandhi is yet again being compared to her grandmother Indira Gandhi. This has come after the politician was detained by the UP Police as she was going to meet the victim families of Sonbhadra killings. Moreover, she was taken to a guest house in Mirzapur where she spent the night.
Priyanka Gandhi stood her ground and met with the suffering families at last
Furious after the incident, Priyanka Gandhi posted a series of tweets wherein she disclosed that government officials had come to meet her around midnight. In fact, these officials asked her to leave without meeting the victim families.
She wrote, “I told them clearly that I did not come here to break any laws but came only to meet the affected families. I have told them I won’t go without meeting the affected families.”
Not without meeting the victims
Even after much resistance from the police, Priyanka Gandhi stood her ground and sat on a ‘dharna.’
Later, in the morning when she tried to move out, the officials restrained it. But when the victim families came in, they decided to let them meet her.
Priyanka Gandhi posted a clip on Twitter wherein she can be seen with the families. She captioned it, “Finally met the families of the Ubbha massacre. What they have been through is unimaginably brutal and unjust. Every single Indian should stand with them in the name of humanity.”
Apart from this the politician also put forward five demands in front of the state government.
Firstly, she said that Rs. 25 lakh should be paid in compensation to the affected families. Secondly, she asked for a fast track trial in the said Sonbhadra case. Moreover, she demanded land titles for the tribals and security for the victim families. And lastly, she put forward the demand for case withdrawal over land disputes that had been filed against the villagers.
