While CBS is yet to confirm the reboot of ‘The Big Bang Theory’, the leads Sheldon and Penny begin a tug of war for the new season with CBS. Here’s what we know.
With the ever-increasing demand for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13, the cast is divided into two, as Penny and Sheldon get ready to go head to head.
After 279 episodes across 12 seasons, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ bade adieu in May last year, leaving fans longing for more. It is reported that nearly 18 million people tuned in to CBS to watch the finale episode of America’s longest-running sitcom. Finally, oh finally, the lift started working.

However, if reports are to be trusted, many cast members were unhappy with the show ending. Apparently, before the starting of the shooting of season 12, show creator Chuck Lorre called a meeting with all the 7 casts, where Sheldon AKA Jim Parsons shared his decision to quit the show.
With the central star quitting the show, the show creator also decided to end the longest-running American sitcom without once trying to spin-off the show in another direction. Rumours are that the other casts also did not welcome the decision.
While many CBS executives requested Jim Parsons to rethink his decision, when he didn’t budge, begrudgingly, other cast members had to accept the decision as well.
Now what? Penny Vs Sheldon?
Well, it seems so. Jim Parsons has been very vocal about not returning to the show even if a new series comes. In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly”, Jim said that it is the right time to leave. “I think there is nothing new left to do. Not that we couldn’t keep doing it, but it feels like we have chewed all the meat off this bone”.

However, actor Kaley Cuoco aka Penny revealed her unwillingness to leave the show to “Entertainment Tonight” saying, “Everyone is doing rebooting. We might as well do it, like in a year! I don’t wanna leave!”
The same sentiments came from Jim’s on-screen wife Amy, played by Mayim Bialik. Expressing her unhappiness with the show ending, in her vlog, she said, “Am I happy? Of course, not”.

On the other hand, sharing similar thoughts with Jim Parson, Johnny Galecki, who played Leonard, said while speaking to reporters, “We’re all going to be very sad when the day comes. But I think at this point everyone’s okay with 12 seasons being the ending”.
The cost of doing business
TV series get expensive as they get older. The actors of mega-successful shows like ‘The Big Bang Theory’ can extract much more money from the network as they need to keep the cast together to continue the show.
Allegedly, the actors of F.R.I.E.N.D.S got $1 million each per episode throughout the end of the season. Also, rumours are that CBS offered Jim Parsons $30 million for Season 13 and 14, and still, he refused to come back. That’s a lot of money Parsons rejected!
‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 13 confirmation update
While the fans eagerly wait for the next season, there’s already a prequel show focusing on our favourite Sheldon Cooper. Yes! We are talking about ‘Young Sheldon’. It focuses on his upbringing in Texas.
There has been no official announcement about a new season. But, with all the noise that fans of the show are making, we can hope for something positive soon!
