In the midst of the most contentious Oscars 2022, with the Will Smith-Chris Rock slap gate being the talk of the world, Henry Cavill has done something that has shaken Marvel’s universe. Is Henry Cavill to blame for the outcome of his victory over Tom Holland’s ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’?
The 2022 Oscars ceremony is over but has left unforgettable moments for fans to live for years to come. Will Smith lost his cool and slapped comedian Chris Rock when he joked about his wife’s hair fall disorder as the world watched Hollywood’s best being honoured for their work. Another significant event that could not be overlooked was ‘Justice League‘ winning the Oscar Cheer Moment. Just as the rest of the world is ecstatic about the victory, Marvel fans are reeling from the shock.

‘Justice League’ creates history at the Oscars by beating blockbusters ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’
‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League‘ led by Henry Cavill and starring Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, and Ray Fisher, became the first winners of the newly introduced category at the Oscars. The 2022 Oscars introduced two new fan-voted categories in an attempt to reverse the event’s recent rating decline. The main reason was to attract more attention to the mega event and diversify the categories.

Fans were allowed to vote for the best scene in theatres. The voting lines for the #OscarsFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment hashtags were open from February 14 to March 3, and people could cast their votes using the hashtags #OscarsFanFavorite and #OscarsCheerMoment.
This time the fans of the superhero genre that generally remain averse to Oscars come up in huge numbers to vote for their favourite stars. Marvel fans thought they would get a sure-shot win with films like ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in their portfolio. However, when the award got announced, they were left awestruck. ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ had beaten down Marvel’s biggest blockbusters.

The Top 5 cheer-worthy scenes of Oscar 2022
The academy shortlisted five scenes for Oscars Cheer Moment and showed clips of the top five vote-getters.
‘The Matrix’ bagged fifth place for the obvious Neo’s slow-motion bullet dodge. Jennifer Hudson’s Effie singing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” in Dreamgirls took fourth place. Marvel managed to get their cheer with Captain America’s “Avengers Assemble” moment in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ which came third. And, they had ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ Spider-Men team-up scene that had to settle for the second position next to Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ for the scene when The Flash enters the Speed Force. While DC fans had their day, the Marvel segment was stunned by the voting results.
Henry Cavill gushing over Oscars Cheer Moment
Some of them even blamed Henry Cavill for persuading fans to vote for the ‘Justice League’ to win. However, there is no evidence to support that Cavill did it. Even though Henry Cavill does not appear in the ‘Justice League’ Oscars Cheer Moment scene, some believe that fans voted for the film because of his irresistible handsome face. That is, without a doubt, the most outlandish theory imaginable.
But it would indeed take at least a year for Marvel fans to recover from the shock. Tell us in the comments if you think ‘Justice League’ deserved an Oscar cheer moment over Tom Holland’s ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’.
