It’s very rare for Marvel fans to have a terrible memory of a movie in MCU. But the worse was the case with the second solo movie of the God of Thunder. However, not only fans but even Heimdall and Thor despised “Thor: The Dark World”.
Everyone is excited as more and more updates are coming for “Thor: Love and Thunder”. The very last week, the movie’s director Taika Waititi dropped some cool new info, and pulled some prank as well while chatting with fans on Insta live about “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Thor: Love and Thunder”.
However, this level of excitement for a Thor movie was unimaginable after the release of Thor: The Dark World. Fans were disappointed to the level of extreme after watching the movie that had nothing but only scenes dragging its length and its fate. But do you know? Even Heimdall, the sole protector of the Bifrost, and Thor, the God of Thunder played by Chris Hemsworth, despised Thor: The Dark World.

Chris Hemsworth said Thor: The Dark World was “meh”
Chris Hemsworth, the actor who’s loved to portray Thor in such a godly way, also agreed with the disappointment of fans over the second Thor movie. During an interview in 2018, Chris Hemsworth opened up about Thor: The Dark World, and said— “The first one is good, the second one is meh.”
The actor has played Thor in a couple of movies now, and three of them are centred around Thor, but among all, the worst for Chris Hemsworth was, Thor: The Dark World.
Just imagine!
Thor Ragnarok has a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first Thor movie has a score of 77%, which is already low enough. But Thor: The Dark World, proving to be the worst of all, has a score of 66%. Just to put in the list, it is the lowest score for any MCU movie till date.
Heimdall said Thor: The Dark World was “Torture”
Idris Elba, who plays Heimdall in Thor movies, and protects the Asgard from all sorts of threats, was himself tortured by the second movie in Thor line up. When asked about it, Idris Elba termed the experience of working on the movie as “Heart-Breaking”.

The actor was just done with filming Nelson Mandela biopic in the whole other part of the world when he was called for a reshoot on the sets of Thor: The Dark World, the actor reacted by saying— “This is torture, man. I don’t want to do this,” and as recalled by him, his agent replied— “You have to, it’s part of the deal.”
While describing his experience, the actor further continued saying—
“I’m actually falling down from a spaceship, so they had to put me in harness in this green-screen studio. And in between takes I was stuck there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this f—— helmet, while they reset. And I’m thinking: ‘24 hours ago, I was Mandela’. When I walked into the set the extras called me Madiba. I was literally walking in this man’s boots. [Within] six months, the crew, we were all so in love with this film we had made. I was him. I was Mandela, practically. Then there I was, in this stupid harness, with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.”
Not only Chris Hemsworth – Everyone hated Thor: The Dark World
The movie wasn’t torturing for only Chris and Idris, but other cast members also hated working on it. Natalie Portman, who portrayed Jane Foster in first Thor, Thor the Dark World, and will be back for the same in Thor: Love and Thunder, reportedly hated working with the director Alan Taylor. Even Petty Jenkins, who was to direct Thor: The Dark World, walked out of it and went to direct DCEU’s “Wonder Women” instead.
“Thor: The Dark World” was a rough experience for everyone, including Chris Hemsworth. And if not for director Taika Waititi, and his creative genius in “Thor Ragnarok”, “Thor: Love and Thunder” would never have been on the cards.
