We hope not. But who is to stop the winds of change if they come to be? Netflix has announced a second season for The Witcher, filming for which starts in August, but speculation around Henry Cavill getting replaced is not over. At least, not yet
The second highest-grossing show of all time for Netflix, The Witcher is planning to replace its lead Henry Cavill. Though there are multiple reasons behind the decision, something that has been a long time coming, fans are having a hard time processing the possibility. The fact is, its not Netflix that is talking about the replacement, but the hints are coming from none other than the actor himself. Cavill is considering other projects over The Witcher.
Highlights:
- Henry Cavill to be replaced in The Witcher season 2.
- Henry Cavill to leave The Witcher for DCEU’s Superman.
- A petition to replace Henry Cavil in The Witcher.
A month ago, creators of the show announced they will be resuming the shoot for The Witcher season 2 from August, after the long halt due to the pandemic.
The team brought the bard to Twitter and he sang (actually tweeted) a poem revealing the date for the filming to resume.
The poem sang:
“I’m dusting off my lute and quill, I have some news, some mead to spill: After all the months we’ve been apart It’s time for production to restart. The Witcher and his bard – who’s flawless, Will reunite on set 17 August.”
However, we wonder how the filming will begin amid the confusion around the casting.
Henry Cavill to be replaced in The Witcher season 2?
It’s been several months that speculation has been buzzing around town that Netflix is considering replacing Henry Cavill in The Witcher. Though all rumours have been put to rest till now, there are still whispers because Henry Cavill hinted at giving his other projects preference.
Previously, the rumours suggested that Netflix is replacing Henry Cavill with Joel Adrian. But after much speculation, it was revealed that Joel Adrian is probably roped in to play a new Witcher character named Hemrik.
WWE star Bray Wyatt also created some sensation after his tweet stating that he’s willing to star in Netflix’s The Witcher. Later it was cleared that he was just messing around with character art of Witcher looking exactly like him.

Henry Cavill to leave The Witcher for DCEU’s Superman?
It was the role of Superman that made Henry Cavill a known name around the world. If we are discussing the effects of Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher, it’s all because of Superman.
It’s been long since Warner Brothers considered giving Superman a standalone movie, and thus Henry Cavill was moved away from the project. But if rumours are to be believed, DCEU is coming up with another Superman movie.
When Henry Cavill signed up to be Superman, it was a four-movie deal. But there has been only one stand-alone movie called Man of Steel, and Cavill has portrayed Superman in DCEU’s Batman vs Superman and played a cameo in Justice League.
A little birdie told us that Warner Bros wasn’t interested in having Henry Cavill play Superman in another movie. But the scene seems to have changed.
Reports suggest that Henry Cavill might have to leave The Witcher for a new Superman movie because of possible date clashes due to the delay caused by the pandemic.
A petition to replace Henry Cavill? Really?
Believe it or not, amid all the dwindling dilemma, a petition has come to the fore asking for Henry Cavill to be replaced as the Witcher. While it has a meagre 21 signs, it is funny in its reasons and adds to the Witcher debate too. The petition calls for Larry David to be cast as the silver-haired monster slayer.
“Opinion is divided on the merits of the Netflix series “The Witcher”. But one thing all fans agree on is that the casting of the lead role, Geralt of Rivia, could be improved in one specific way:
Replace Henry Cavill with Larry David.”
The petition goes further on, explaining why Larry David would be a better choice for the role. It’s so funny that we agree. Just for some harmless fun. Here they are:
“Consider the facts:
1) One of these actors is an uncompromising badass who fears nothing, takes no prisoners, and cannot be defeated. The other actor is Henry Cavill.
2) Larry David already has silver hair so the props department will save MUCHO CLAMS on hair dye and wigs.
C’mon Netflix, DO IT.”
The petition, started by Stefan Sirucek, has received its own tiny support base, it seems.
