Netflix to bring the ‘Community’ movie in 2020?
The hype around the ‘Community’ movie had never settled. And with Netflix grabbing the global streaming rights for ‘Community’, fans can’t help but get overwhelmed. A ‘Community’ movie may be guaranteed to be released on a streaming platform like Netflix in 2020. Earlier, Netflix picked up on the greatness of ‘Breaking Bad’ and made an epilogue movie titled ‘El Camino’ around it. And now, it is aimed at making the ‘Community’ series mainstream. If this isn’t a hint, then we don’t know what is!
It’s not just the ‘Community’ fans but the star cast as well who have been pushing for the movie. To begin with, Alison Brie (Annie Edison) said in a Vulture interview that if a ‘Community’ movie is ever made, it should be made for Netflix. The star cast, in fact, has vowed to return for the movie if Dan Harmon were to write it.
The ‘Community’ movie might be just here at the end of 2020.
Dan Harmon confirms the movie.
A film version of ‘Community’ has always been touted, with people using the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndAMovie on social media. Fans, get ready once more to break out your battle cry because Dan Harmon, the series creator, has given some hints in his interview with TheWrap that was organized in May this year.
“I can tell people for sure that the enthusiasm for ‘Community’, both for all of this time and the resurgence of it on Netflix, there’s always an aspect of that affects the marketplace. And when the marketplace gets affected, conversations happen. And when conversations happen, things happen.”
“I mean when you are part of the Community family, you learn never to raise expectations, keep them nice and low and then be pleasantly surprised. So, I can say that there are conversations happening that people would want to be happening and that I’m very very excited about the coming months.”
It has almost been 5 months since the talk happened. So, good news – maybe? The ‘Community’ community can still be hopeful about the release of a ‘Community’ movie on Netflix in the coming few months of 2020, and in the meantime, they can binge-watch the previous episodes.
Will a ‘Community’ movie ever happen?
A month or two before Dan’s interview was scheduled, Alison Brie, who played Annie Edison in all six seasons of the NBC comedy, teased the fans about the ongoing movie discussions. She had even taken this to Reddit, and here’s the proof. The talk of the film version has been ongoing ever since the early seasons of ‘Community’. Since the show returned in 2015 for ending its run with an extraordinarily comforting finale (sixth season), the missing movie remains the only promised piece of content yet to air. People are still hopeful for a ‘Community’ movie to be streamed on Netflix anytime in 2020.
