Netflix and AMC are planning a sequel to ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’. The groundbreaking show sees no signs of ever leaving its audience alone, and we are not complaining.
Netflix has been the flag-bearer of traditional and experimental TV. When the popular network put ‘Breaking Bad’ on its platform, the phenomenon we like to call the ‘Netflix effect’ took place. It introduced the show to a much larger audience and, pretty soon, from 2 million viewers per episode, the numbers were somewhere around 10 million.

Creator of the show Vince Gilligan, too, credits the success of the show to Netflix and its video-on-demand interface. This success is why the network AMC and Netflix got together to make ‘EL Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ following the life of Jesse Pinkman after Walter White.
But are Netflix and AMC teaming up for another ‘Breaking Bad’ movie? Let’s find out.
Jesse finds a happy ending in the ‘Breaking Bad’ movie
In the movie ‘El Camino,’ we pick up right where the finale of the series ended. Jesse (Aaron Paul) is locked up in a compound, cooking meth for white supremacists, while dreaming about escaping this life and living in peace.
The audience watches intently as Jesse Pinkman escapes the hell he finds himself in, with a new identity. After he gives a letter addressed to Brock Cantillo to specialist Ed (Robert Forster), Ed hands him a new identity that helps him escape to Alaska.
And, after six years of wondering what happened to Jesse, fans finally have some closure that Walter did the right thing by saving Jesse when they see him driving away from the life of crime to a place very, very far away.
But is this the end for him?
‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ sequel
What has been giving the fans hope to continue living in the ‘Breaking Bad’ world is creator Vince Gilligan’s blind optimism with a “never say never” mantra on whether the show will return in any form.
While the plotlines for the second movie are kept tightly under wraps, many people are already guessing what it could be. The best thing about the ‘Breaking Bad’ universe, are the characters we got to witness. Whether it was Walter White, Jesse, Marie, or Skinny Pete, there are many characters that the audiences would want to see living their lives till the end, peaceful or not.
And with Jesse safely out of the picture, the second movie could focus on any of the characters left with no defined ending. And who is to say Vince Gilligan won’t branch out to ‘Breaking Bad’s’ spin-off series ‘Better Call Saul’ for the sequel?
Who will return, and when can we expect the next movie to come out?
‘El Camino’ Part 2 is returning sooner than you think
The movie, set to go into production this year, was shelved owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Rumours are that the sequel will be releasing in November 2021.
The movie will also see Aaron Paul return and, believe it if you can, Bryan Cranston! Yes, we know that Walter White met his end in the series finale “Feline”, but sources confirm that Bryan Cranston will be returning to the ‘Breaking Bad’ universe in flashback and memories.
We will wait as long as it takes to watch our favourite crime-pair together, even if only in memories. And Jesse, let’s find out if his happy ending was one indeed.
