“We’ve had enough of ‘Supernatural’”, said no one ever. And the ones who thought they had seen the end of the show, may have to reconsider. Let’s take a look at the whole picture.

Created by Eric Kripke, ‘Supernatural’ is an American fantasy TV series that premiered on September 13, 2005, on The WB, eventually becoming a part of The CW’s line up. Season 15 was announced to be the last, though recently The CW President Mark Pedowitz revealed that he wasn’t ready to give up on the show just yet. Well, does that hint at a possible season 16? Here’s what we know.
The possibility of ‘Supernatural’ Season 16
Not just Pedowitz, one of the cast members also gave a nod to the possibility of ‘Supernatural’ Season 16. Speaking at the show’s farewell panel at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, ‘Supernatural’ star Jensen Ackles left the door open for a revival after season 15.
“It’s a long journey that I don’t think is ever going to be over. I think we’re just going to go away for a while. For how long, I don’t know”, Ackles said.

So, does that mean Ackles is on board for a potential season 16?
The actor clarified, “I’m not ever ready to close doors or burn bridges. I think that’s foolish. Am I saying there’s something in the works? No. Am I open to having a conversation in the future? What’s the harm in that?”
Given the delay in production and post-production due to the ongoing pandemic, it is only reasonable to not have such a long gap at the tail end of the final season. Hence, the chances of the remaining unaired seven episodes of season 15 being effectively released as a bonus season are pretty high.
What is left to see in ‘Supernatural’ Season 15?
Unlike other CW shows, ‘Supernatural’ will eventually produce its remaining episodes. Thus, we can expect the series to end in its full glory, without compromising on quality or time. The remaining episodes were expected to continue to follow the Winchester brothers — Sam and Dean, as they drive by the mysterious backroads of the country in their 1967 Chevy Impala, fighting the evil forces they encounter on the way.
The show-runners have been quite tight-lipped about any developments yet. But, seeing Sam and Dean in a showdown with God himself, we can only imagine how tough and twisted the road ahead is going to be for the brothers. We can expect the remaining episodes to be less action-packed and more like a final goodbye.
Pedowitz recently said that he is willing to greenlight ‘Supernatural’ Season 16, given the Winchester brothers hop on board. According to him, it’s Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles who need to be convinced.

Fans would love to see Padalecki and Ackles in the lead if there is a new season. They also want to see the rest of the cast comprising Katie Cassidy, Lauren Cohan, Misha Collins, Mark A. Sheppard, Mark Pellegrino, and Alexander Calvert, as the show is incomplete without their brilliant performance.
So far, it is clear that the cast shares similar thoughts on giving the show the proper ending that it so rightly deserves, instead of the abrupt ending it got due to the pandemic.

When can we expect the final ending?
The final episode of season 15 was supposed to release on May 18, 2020. But owing to the worldwide crisis, the production dates got pushed beyond expectations. On March 23, the 13th episode of season 15 aired and was titled “For a while”.
The makers have already shot up to the 18th episode, but they would still require a lot of time for extensive post-production work. Speaking at a press call, Pedowitz announced that ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 is scheduled to return this fall.

In conversation with “The Wrap”, Pedowitz revealed, “We hope they will be able to start shooting sometime in late summer, early fall. If not, we will become flexible and rearrange our scheduling”.
For now, we just have to wait for shooting to resume. Till then, let’s patiently wait for the Winchester brothers to sweep us off our feet, one heartbeat at a time. What are your expectations from the upcoming episodes of ‘Supernatural’ Season 15? Tell us in the comments below!
