After Vince Gilligan’s ‘Breaking Bad’ movie ‘El Camino’ wrote a new ending for Jesse Pinkman’s character, fans are speculating if there’s another film coming.
‘Breaking Bad’, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, is heralded as a masterpiece in the world of television. There’s just something so incredibly compelling about the camaraderie and fractures in the relationship of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman! It draws viewers because it is unlike anything they’ve seen before. Showrunner Vince Gilligan constructed a puzzle for the series, with each piece presenting itself at the right time. Every action has a ripple effect, and anti-hero Walter White aka Heisenberg was written as a deeply flawed, charismatic genius.

Fans have been wondering for quite some time if the showrunners have another film, a sequel to ‘El Camino’ in the making. The original series has already spawned a spin-off, ‘Better Call Saul’, which some viewers believe is even better!

What Jesse Pinkman’s happy ending means
Jesse Pinkman has had a tough life on the run in ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’, but, at least, he got his happy ending. Viewers of the show still don’t know what to make of Walter White’s death. You’d imagine the death of a titular character causes a fair amount of distress, but Heisenberg had caused others so much damage. Seeing him die in his own lab was a metaphorical end for the character.
‘El Camino’ followed Jesse Pinkman, an obvious criminal on the run, desperate to begin a new life. You follow his character throughout the course of the film, as he looks over his shoulder for any imminent threat.
The film ends with Jesse smiling with the prospect of a new life looming over him, an opportunity he didn’t have before. He finally changed his identity and, as the film suggested, went on to live a peaceful life in Alaska. We wouldn’t rule him out of any future appearances yet, this is ‘Breaking Bad’, and anything can happen in minutes. There are plenty of ways how his escape could go wrong if Vince Gilligan decided that another ‘Breaking Bad’ movie was in order!
‘Breaking Bad’ movie ‘El Camino’ to get a sequel from Netflix and AMC?
‘El Camino’ was a thrilling continuation of the series, and also opened up the possibility to more spin-offs. The show went on to create a prequel series, ‘Better Call Saul’, based on Bob Odenkirk aka Saul Goodman. Couldn’t Netflix and AMC co-produce a spin-off movie that depicts Jesse Pinkman’s bright new future?
It’s still unclear if a sequel movie could be a possibility, and creator Vince Gilligan says so himself. The showrunner shared his thoughts on what was coming next, in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”.
“Personally, I’d love to figure out something different, which at this point would be, God, not another antihero”, he shared in the interview. “Is there something else I can do? Is there another story I can tell? But I’ve got to tell you, it’s harder to write a really engaging good guy than it is a really engaging bad guy.” From Gilligan’s words, it seems like a show set in the ‘Breaking Bad’ universe isn’t being discussed. But, at least, he hasn’t abandoned the idea entirely!
Will Walter White and Jesse Pinkman be seen together again?
If you remember correctly, the characters had a short reunion in the ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’. Although it was a short flashback, fans of the series didn’t expect to see it. They were, however, glad that it happened! The uncertainty surrounding ‘Breaking Bad’ movies and spin-offs continues to confuse fans, but there’s still hope with ‘Better Call Saul’. Actor Bryan Cranston has announced on several occasions that he’d love to appear in the series if invited.
With a final season still in the making, there’s no saying if Walter White will find his way back to the series again! Maybe the series will end with Walter White entering the series, or meeting Jesse Pinkman, before becoming his teacher? The possibilities are endless!
