Just a day after the United Nations Climate Action Summit, Netizens could not help but notice a plastic beverage bottle at Modi Trump meet.
On the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN Climate Action Summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump got down to interacting with media persons. With the recent ‘Howdy, Modi!’ event, India and the US have proved that they are on good terms. So it was evident that the world wanted to hear more from them. But sadly, actions speak louder than words.
Actions spoke louder than words at Modi Trump meet as Netizens zoomed in on pictures
Just a day after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged world leaders to ban single-use plastic, Netizens spotted one right between him and US President Donald Trump. Though they had to zoom in and found a bottle of Diet Coke that was placed on the table between the two world leaders.
This raised many eyebrows as Modi has talked very strongly against single-use plastic bottles and what India is doing to curb the issue.
Twitter was unapologetic as some wittingly termed this as ‘Trumps Up’. Others gave the Diet Coke bottle a unique name, ‘Kaka Cola’ while referring to a famous soft drinks company.
Who is to blame?
Well, the officials who were a part of the event claimed that all the arrangments were made by the Americans. The US side hosted the meeting.
In fact, the Prime Minister’s Office also made a clarification public. The Office said that President Trump is an avid consumer of the beverage. And thus, keeping in mind his preference, the bottle was placed there.
The PMO said, “With regards to the Coke bottle, this meeting was hosted by the US side so they did the arrangements. President Trump is a regular coke drinker so it was keeping that in mind that the US side placed that bottle.”
Some are questioning whether it was also just a product placement! What do you think?
