With nostalgic reunion selfies making the rounds, let’s see what the cast of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is up to since you last saw them!
Ten minutes is all it takes to fall in love with ‘Gilmore Girls’. A series that became a ‘happy place’ for its viewers, stunningly captured a special mother-daughter relationship, unlike any other series. It has humour, drama, romance, caffeine-fueled, fast-paced dialogues, and way more pop-culture references than you can count. There’s no reason not to love it.
Highlights —
- Rory is a favourite at the Emmys while Lorelai made a late return to TV
- All of Rory’s love-interests on the show have had successful careers
- What are Emily, Richard, Luke, Sookie, Paris, and the others up to?
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, ‘Gilmore Girls’ mainly explores single mother Lorelai and her relationship with her 16-year-old daughter Rory. The show is set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, an idyllic small-town which is full of colourful characters!
The whimsical-comedy drama is still popular with fans today because of the warm, fuzzy feelings that permeate throughout the series. Starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel in the lead, the cast also includes Scott Patterson (Luke Danes). There’s Kelly Bishop and Edward Herrman (Emily & Richard Gilmore), Melissa McCarthy (Sookie), Jared Padalecki (Dean), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess) and more!
It has been years since the show ended, and the ‘Gilmore Girls’ cast has moved on to different things since. Let’s see what they’re doing now!
Rory is a favourite at the Emmys while Lorelai made a late return to TV
Star Hollows’ poster child for perfection, Rory aka Alexis Bledel, has taken on different roles since ‘Gilmore Girls’. She played Lena in the ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ films and will soon reprise her role in the third film of the series! She’s also made an appearance on ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Sin City’.
In the last few years, Alexis has become a favourite at the Emmy Awards. She won an Emmy for her appearance in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ in 2017, and is nominated again this year! Rory’s journalism career might have not worked as she had hoped, but Alexis is flourishing.

After her farewell to Stars Hollow, Lauren Graham appeared in films like ‘Evan Almighty’ and ‘Because I Said So’. In 2010, she returned to TV in 2010 as Sarah Braverman on NBC’s ‘Parenthood’. The show had a successful six-season run, and she met her partner Peter Kraus on set!
The mother-daughter duo reprised their roles as Lorelai and Rory again in Netflix’s four-episode ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival series in 2019.

All of Rory’s love-interests on the show have had successful careers
Rory’s first boyfriend (Dean) played by Jared Padalecki wasn’t admired by GG loyalists, but his role as Sam Winchester in ‘Supernatural’ is much-loved. He played Sam for 15 years and also appeared in films like ‘House of Wax’ and ‘Friday the 13th’.
Luke’s nephew Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) was one of the most loved ‘Gilmore Girls’ cast members of all time. Jess was smart and quick-witted, had less screen time than fans would’ve loved, but he left quite an impact. Milo went on to act in ‘Heroes’ and played Jack Pearson on the NBC series ‘This Is Us’. He recently starred in a film, ‘The Art Of Racing In The Rain’.
Everyone remembers Chad Michael Murray as Tristan, Rory’s classmate in season 1. It might have been a small role but it was just the beginning of his fame! Soon after, he landed the lead role on ‘One Tree Hill’ and films like ‘House of Wax’, ‘Freaky Friday’, and ‘A Cinderella Story’. Recently, Chad has been a part of another teen-drama on Netflix, ‘Riverdale’!
Matt Czuchry, who played Logan, Rory’s boyfriend through the last seasons, has since then appeared on ‘The Good Wife’. Currently, he plays Michael Conrad in the medical drama, ‘The Resident’.
What are Emily, Richard, Luke, Sookie, Paris, and the others up to?
After leaving the ‘Gilmore Girls’ cast, Kelly Bishop (Emily) landed a role on ‘Bunheads’, a short comedy-drama series on ABC. She also guest-starred in a few episodes of ‘The Good Wife’! She reprised her role in the reunion series but Edward Herrman, who plays her on-screen husband Richard, unfortunately, couldn’t.
After ‘Gilmore Girls’, Edward made notable appearances in ‘The Wolf Of Wall Street’, ‘The Good Wife’, and ‘Black Box’. He passed away in 2014 after a battle with brain cancer, leaving the ‘Gilmore Girls’ cast heartbroken. His death was later written into the Netflix reunion series.
Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) is probably the most successful member of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ cast. She’s been in tons of movies like ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Bridesmaids’, ‘Life of the Party’, ‘Tammy’, and was even nominated for two Academy Awards. In her next major role, she plays Ursula in the Disney+ ‘The Little Mermaid’ live-action remake!
Scott Patterson aka diner owner Luke went on to star in films including ‘Yellow Fever’. He also voiced James Gordon in ‘Batman: Gotham by Gaslight’, an animated film by DC. Scott has three upcoming films in the works: ‘The Rogue’, ‘Liberty’, and ‘The Sons of Summer’. Scott also channelled his inner-Luke and launched “Scotty P’s Big Mug Coffee”, his own coffee brand!
Liza Weil, the neurotic perfectionist Paris, guest-starred on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ before playing Bonnie in the crime-drama ABC series ‘How To Get Away With Murder’. She has three upcoming films in development- ‘Mosquito’, ‘Medicine Man’, and ‘Women Is Losers’.
